Playing Eve in Ironman mode?

Has anyone played Eve in Ironman mode? i.e. when you die, biomass your character and start over. I think it'll make Eve FAR more interesting. And come on, Eve isn't about maximising isk/hour. If it's truly about making isk, you're way better off just working in the real world and converting PLEX into isk. Who wants to experience what life would REALLY be like in a dark, sadistic universe? I think this is why we all play Eve.

Give it a try. Play Eve in Ironman mode.

Biomassed 5 minutes into the tutorial where the objective is to sit there and get killed by a rat.

Real Men play Ironman Eve by walking into the wrong neighborhood, taking a seat at a poorly lit bus stop, and playing Eve on their $4,000 Alienware laptop in full view of everybody while listening to tunes streamed on their iPad.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Your 'Ironman mode' would kill the whole spirit of the game for me.
For me, 'No loss is permanent' leads to 'No risk is too great when the reward for sucess is greater'.

If dead was actually dead I'd never undock, and I'd either be a station trader, or a planet bound pleb.

Ship deaths or podding deaths?

Somebody who stays out of nullsec or wormholes can play for years without getting podded very easily.

I beleive this is called Harcore mode.

Don't worry, Diablo 3 should be out in a few months. *taps foot impatiently*

I think people get too attached to their characters / wealth / whatever. How many savegames do you keep from 5+ years ago? I don't have any. The few saved games that I have kept from the late 90s (FF7 on the PS1), I haven't touched in years.

Let go. Embrace the inevitable and LIVE!

Yeah would make Eve a lot more interesting for a spare alt kicking around tbh. Only way to implement it on a server wide scale would be to remove bubbles in all forms from the game.... DICs, HICs and mobiles, as well as Smartbombs. Would make for an interesting 4th server world for Eve. Call it the Diablo Server. Ship deaths are fine, once you get podded your toons dead forever, you have to create another but you get lifetime stats saved for them. Isk made, ships killed or destroyed, all the good stuff.

You can only use real life accounts but any toon that has died on Diablo cannot be used again for Diablo, entry fee to Diablo is a plex per toon so its not just anyone and everyone. And then even if you biomass your toon after a Diablo death theres still some sort of cost to get back in.

Then lets see who can live forever!!Twisted

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

This would either make you more risk averse or just plain reckless because you no longer care.

I have been playing this character since 2007, and I am still on my orginal body. So in a way I have been playing Eve Ironman mode, and I have yet to go into Nullsec or wormhole space.

Granted, if I ever get podded, I will not biomass this character, would be a waste of all the time I have spent training up skills.

Too bad it's ****.

If you were a fan of Diablo 2 hardcore mode, disappointment awaits.
