Although tragic, to assume that the white shooter's only motivation was the color of the victim, is just as racist as the accusation.

Maybe we could have a good 'ole fashioned lynching since he's white and shot a black guy, and we're so progressive and hate racism so much

On the one hand I get it. Neighborhood watch sees random person walking on foot at night that they don't recognize and call for the police. A lot of the articles leave out that the watch guy was found roughed up, too so we don't know who started that fight or how bad it was to say if he needed to go for a gun.

On the other hand it does sound awful fishy though, and you'd think we'd have something more after a month.

Doubt it's racism.

Sounds like another trigger happy American living in a gated community that carries a gun.

I hope this tragedy will make him realize this and submit himself to a quack-clinic for permanent residence.

In general; people who specifically purchase firearms for self-defense in a gated community should be under 24 surveillance - because there must be something psychologically unstable about them for them to feel so insecure that they purchase a deadly weapon.

In a country where anyone can have a gun, people are gonna get shot down by idiots, regardless of the color of their skin, age, sexual preference or favorite brand of beer.

The other point to realize is that the police do not prevent crime. There is nothing stopping someone walking into a gun shop, buying a gun, walking into the shop next door and shooting every living thing in sight. No more than there is anything to stop a kid at school picking up a pen, holding another kid down and stabbing him/her in the eyes, permanently blinding them.

In both instances, the police did nothing to prevent the crimes.

In fact, if the police were an effective deterrent against crime, there would be no need for prisons - but the prisons are overflowing.

Once you realize this truth, the only thing stopping people from committing crime is, what exactly?

People like you came out of the woodwork 12 years ago to turn Columbine into America's version of Dunblane and we defeated them. We did so on the grounds that the USA is not England and not Australia and we were trying to prevent a gun ban to protect the lives of the poor bastards who would be sent to collect them.

You can have you little latte-slurping safe world, but in the real world, we don't need permission to defend ourselves. I live in a rural area where there are meth-heads breaking into houses at all hours. An old lady down the road was confronted while still in her bed.

Then we have the other pests. The day I moved in the livestock was attacked by coyotes and the rifles were in the trunk. Lost a goose and the rooster was drooling blood for a week. A cougar came by a week later showing interest in the horses.

Meanwhile, the typical adult-sized children of the world, unable to take care of their dogs, are abandoning them on the backroads. Now you have hungry stray dogs forming packs. Thanks, stupid city yuppies. You think they just get taken in by some friendly old farmer? Stupid.

Meanwhile, the guy in Florida is going to realize that the only people who can shoot someone dead and get away with it is the police. Every day somewhere somebody is getting killed by a cop who says they felt threatened and the cops investigate the cop and after a week or two find that nothing was done wrong.

And he wasnt arrested STRAIGHT AWAY FOR MURDER?! what the hell, he shot a kid walking down a street with a bag of skittles, he should be on death row already.
