So much holding this game back by not having it on PC. Graphics and 24 v 24 being two of them.

I have more space likes than you.

I think it looks fine.

While nothing has been officially confirmed, I think a PC version is pretty likely.

Didnt a bunch of game developers find out that large matches are not everyone's cup of tea?

Also good graphics =/= good game, never has never will.

lol @ 24v24. First off take a look at M.A.G on PS3 which will go up to I think 256v256 or at least 128v128. Then there are games like ArmA which can do even more on PC with the right mods and a server that can handle that kind of insanity.

Nothing is being "held back" because it is on PS3. There are more gamers with PS3's than PC's for one and they already have gamers on PC and want to branch out to another market.

Bounties for all! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2279821#post2279821

No, not really, I actually think not being on PC will benifit Dust in the long run. (Much less hackers being a big, big reason, much smaller console cost being another, and much higher player numbers being yet another).

Secondly, while the PS3 may not be as good graphicaly as high end gaming PCs, it's only about 1/10 to 1/5 of the price of one of those PCs, and still has better graphics than many, non top of the range PCs do.

Also, are you suggesting that being on the PS3 is preventing dust from having 24 v 24 matches, or limiting it to them. Because, simply put, thats complete rubbish.

So you guys want 48 people fighting over planets to decide the fate of a 1000+ alliance? Fine by me. There is a reason PS3 has limited players for BF3. Simply the ps3 cant handle the 64 player maps PC can. I want my games to feel epic if i wanna play a game that looks and probably feels like HALO , ill go play halo.

acutally youll need more than 48 people, planets are zoned off until tiles which you can probably get a couple hundreds of dust marines fighting for.

One, as you increase player numbers, you decrease the amount you improve the experience, in fact after a certain point, you make the experience worse by adding more players (things get to confusing, everyone abandons any semblance of team play)

Two, as Nova said, its only 48 people fighting over one region on one planet. If you want to conquer a system, you'll want merc in every region on every planet, and you still need to win in space. So its hardly 48 people deciding the fate of huge alliances on their own.

Three, CCP has stated repeatedly that as Dust grows, and as they improve the tech, they will increase the size of the matches. 32 v 32 (and maybe even higher) is pretty much going to happen, just probably not at launch.

I dunno the video seemed kinda cool to me, if I had a PS3 I'd be pretty stoked to play a free FPS game with some new ideas.

I'm also not worried about DUST 514 not being released on the PC, it is obvious that CCP is testing the game on the PS3 with a smaller market and if it succeeds then a PC port will be released. Work out the kinks on the PS3 players and build up a following and then bam, PC mega release.

I just think its really sad to hear pc players saying that steam is killing pc games. Im sorry but when was the last time you went to a video game store and saw pc titles? or how many shelves did the pc section took up?

The largest one in my area only has 4 shelves for non american games and they require you be over 18 to buy these.

MAG has already done well beyond 64 on the PS3. 256 players is the upper limit in that game.

Edit: MAG was already mentioned before both our posts apparently

How are the graphics bad? Haters gonna hate I guess? Some people no matter what will hate it? Are they next gen? or the best? No but not everything is or has to be.

I remember someone on these forums complaining that the graphics on BF3 were horrible even at max settings...

As for the f2p thing TF2 made more money after it went F2P years later than selling boxes. Moral of the story... Have a great game, support it, and get community involvement == profit.

Also mag does not fit 256 in one space last I checked it divided the map by 4 to 6 creating separate instances that just influence one another. Not all out 128 v. 128 in one space brawling it out.

Never said it was pretty, but you stated the PS3 can't handle it when it has done larger. Also if one considers MAG's limits and that the visuals were scaled to accommodate that, it should be clear that a 64 player limited map would be able to sustain better visuals.

ha a graphics junky

All automated intel should be removed from the game including Instant local/jumps/kills/cynos for all systems/regions.Eve should report nothing like this to the client/3rd party software.Intel should not be force fed to players. Player skill and iniative should be the sources of intel.

Honestly, graphics hardly make a difference if the core design of the game doesn't balance out.

The size of a modern platoon is about 50 people (depending on your country and service). Dust is probably best to limit any on4e zone to a platoon size fight. Anything larger than that should be handled at a level of abstraction (i.e. the alliance leader directing things based on a map). Yeah it kinda sucks that you can't send a mechanized division through your opponents heartland. On the other hand brushfire wars between small units seems more in keeping with the eve universe than WWI or WWII style massed combat.

Keep in mind capsuleers aren't stricktly suppose to be having fights with hundreds of capships.
