I think I've only lost my pod once, maybe twice in my entire Eve career.

You've lost yours hundreds of times??

I can only recall one specific time losing it to the Goons, and the only reason I lost it then was
because I was just hypnotized by their smack talk during my destruction. I was too preoccupied
reading several hundred messages about my lack of masculinity and pictures of male genitalia drawn
with text in my local window.

It was awesome.

If you run into more than 2 a**holes in a day, you should probably look in the mirror.

Real pvpers shoot space rocks.

Or that .01 thing those crazy market pvpers do...

Stating your pod is toast anyway. So whats the point of the pod? Its like having a second ship that's going to die anyway..

Why do we even have pods in the game now then? They have no real purpose anymore... Ok there are times it will save you but meh if someone is out to specifically kill you they are fitted out to get your pod. Especially now the killmails have a certain kudos about them.

Also dont tell me its for your implants etc. It just an unnecessary expense now as its going to die anyway.

Because.

Every day in every way I improve my skills and get better.

@ OP
For us without jump l clones podding ships to new bases is quite useful to us.

Two possibilities exists: Either we are alone in the universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.

What is a “POD?”

Player Operated Drawbridge?
Power Overflux Debilitator?
Pod Opening Device?
Prehensile Ogle-eyed Demonoid?

Yes, why have a pod. Its only the single most important aspect of this space RP that makes the universe different from any other.

In fact, tomorrow they should release the patch that takes us back to Earth, because why should we let the dead EVE gate keep us here.

They should just get rid of guns and missiles too. What's the point?

1: Pods often DO save your implants.

2: Pods are not an unnecessary expense... they are free.

In PvE pods save you, every time. Somewhere I saw a statistic that 40% of ship deaths are PvE, so that's substantial.

In PvP even with the apparently higher pod killing we are seeing, you still get away most of the time.

Red v Blue: having a ship death require a clone each time would nerf that entire operation. As well as in-corp war games.

That time was laged after the ship blew & the POD I was in was 50% into structure immeediately before i knew what was even hitting me... lost a prostitute in my cargo & he looted my x rated holo reels from me anathema :'(

It's an additional source of suspense. It's not guaranteed that your pod will get away. But it's not guaranteed that it will get caught either. There are consequences for being podded - several million for a new clone, loss of implants, ending up in your medical clone station which might be far away from where you currently intended to be, etc.

Consequences should not be removed from the game - they give the game character.

Seconded, it would be very very annoying to not have a chance of escapting with my 30mil+implants clone. And losing pods isn't that often anyway. You are just bad at playing the game

I suppose you could say that the POD stores every data about your character. Your race, gender and what amount of skills you have, and how good you are at them. Without the POD you could, if you died in someway, essencially wind up as anything. And since your new clone don't know what skills you had you would have to start from the beginning again.

How do you guys get your pods out?

I used to spam warp as my ship was going down but that is no longer reliable.

I think this guy just gives up after losing a ship or he begins to rage fest when the ship enters hull and forgets to hit warp soon as his ship blows.
