This is why you threaten people like this:

"I am going to go to your house ************, kill your daughters, then tear you in half like paper"

"In game"

IRL threats bad, in character threats MANDATORY

"Do not touch anything unnecessarily. Beware of pretty girls in dance halls and parks who may be spies, as well as bicycles, revolvers, uniforms, arms, dead horses, and men lying on roads -- they are not there accidentally." -Soviet infantry manual,

It always depends very much on the context, but as strange as it may sound, in many jurisdictions threats like the one the OP made can be prosecuted, or lead at least to an investigation. In the case of the OP, close but unlikely. By the way, in court people always say they were just kidding.

As Khanh said, stay in character, especially never make threats that relate or allude to the physical person behind the char. Pro tip: Don't make real life-like threats and add "in game" or some other mitigating phrase: it still depends on the whole of the situation, and if the threat by itself is sufficiently dangerous, adding "just kidding" won't help.
