While there's no actual information, this announcement made me giddy as all get out!

Mmm, I love the smell of pod goo in the morning.

Update: The CSM has posted a statement regarding CCP's refocusing. We encourage you to read it.

Begun, the Feature War has.

CCP's announcement that EVE development will be refocused, is, of course, reason for celebration.

But don't get cocky, bittervet. This is not victory, it's just the opening shot in the war -- the Feature War.

The real battle in the Feature War will be fought over how the ammo -- the newly available development resources made available by this "refocusing" -- will be used.

Right now in a sinister conference room, arguments are being made that it should be spent on :awesome: flashiness and exploding planets.

Meanwhile, a plucky band of rebel developers champions a radical proposition -- that development should be refocused on fixing existing problems in the game. Stuff like POS's, the user interface, mining and manufacturing, Sov, and a host of other annoyances that plague the current community.

The Feature War is raging now... the decisions will be made soon... and your voice in this thread provides ammo to one side or the other.

Make your voice heard. This threadnaught can be the ultimate power in the EVE universe. I suggest you use it.

Victory? Victory you say? Master Bittervet, not victory. The shroud of the :awesome: side has fallen. Begun the Feature War has.

PS to Zulu: "This is not the blog we're looking for."

SSHSHHHHHH HSHHHH SHHHH

Dang man, did you not get the memo? We're supposed to eat whatever we're spoonfed while our fingers hover over the OH GOD UNSUB button in case they mess up again...

I for one welcome any revitalizing changes that will take place in game. Removing local in nullsec completely? Yes? Please? Changing lowsec to delayed? Maybe? No?

That space there ^ ? Or the devblog itself? Or this thread as a whole? Or just space in EVE in general?

I'm so confused - and yet my interest is piqued.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

I'm just hoping that this is a shift of direction and a trend that will last rather than being some reactionary PR stunt to make it look like CCP really care all of a sudden.

Historically, CCP have made some minor concessions to the player base when they've bungled something REALLY badly and been called on it, particularly if it's from the gaming press. We get veiled promises and assurances - often worded in "legalese" that indemnifies CCP even if they don't follow through - some immediate action to prove good will, and quickly everything returns to the way it was before the backlash. That is, management / marketing know best and screw what the customer base wants. It seems in the last couple of years, those decisions have backfired often, and had they followed the advice of customers and CSM, many of the disasters would have been averted.

The recent decline in players logging in, coupled with the recent blasts of bad press has left CCP with some serious egg on their face, and I'm sure is raising some serious concerns in the financial department who are counting on INCREASED income from Eve subscriptions / MT in order to fund their 2 other projects. Any decline in income is enough to set up in panic mode I'm sure.

I'm hoping that this is a change. I would like to see CCP more responsive to the people that fund their company - the customers. I see this as positive change - FOR NOW - and I applaud it. Please continue down this path. You'll find it will make for far better customer relations, retention, and getting new players.

People were constantly telling me I was crazy. For a long time I didn't believe them, but after a while, I started to think they might be right.

But it turns out that they were all wrong. One of the voices in my head is a psychiatrist and he says I'm perfectly sane.

It's good to see CCP at least attempting to refocus on what actually made them great. Hopefully, in time, you will be successful enough to work on multiple projects at the same time.
