I take this as the worst possible sign. The cat was out of the bag (that there'll be ****-all interaction between the 2 games), and this is a damage limitation effort.

I agree that there will most likely be a lot less interaction at launch than most of us market and industry types have wanted, but at least I think this shows that it won't be as bad as it could have been. I doubt very much that the correction was backtracking. I think it was a simple misunderstanding on the part of the writer and it was corrected by CCP as soon as someone there noticed it.

However, I will retract the "very." I think it is a good sign that they will be taking this necessary step to link the economies (a free flow of isk between Eve and Dust at launch) and shows a strong desire to have a single economy in their "one universe."

Of course, this is all reading tea leaves at this point. We will get more info as we approach Fanfest, the beta, and launch and they can probably change their minds (lose their nerve) right up until launch. So there are no guarantees.

The immortal, the one, the only, Oliver Twist said it best, and I quote.... "Please, sir, can I have some more FAIL?"

Thanks for coming out, CCP.... "DUST" is DOA.

As I noted before, I don't see a problem with integration of Eve and Dust down the road per the concerns mentioned so far in this thread. However, I do see a problem if in one game you can grind more isk in one game than another. For example, supposed we have an economic game with janitor and CEO subgames. Who's going to grind as a janitor when the CEO generates vastly more money per hour?

In that light, I think making the grind for Dust similar to Eve (40 mil isk/hour for solo play and/or 100 mil isk/hour for team play) will do the trick. It also means that when CCP decides to integrate the two economies more completely a few months later, the Eve economy won't automatically overwhelm the other. Those planets better be worth it however, or you won't see a lot of pod pilots paying for fight.

Was this a misquote, did the article get changed?

Everything I originally quoted was a cut-and-paste. I would love to have copy of the original to see exactly what they changed, but on the whole taking both of these points out of the text at the direct request of CCP is a very good sign.

In case anyone thinks I was high, someone on Failheap quoted both parts of the original. And googling both quotes leads to the Massively page although the cache has since been updated.

arent you forgetting something?

dust players are mercenaries who will be working for eve players, would be weird to be working for people that can't afford to pay you wouldnt it?

grind isk as a merc working for players??? surely you'd take the highest bidder and the higher your reputation (just like EVEs merc corps) the more you'd charge....

This is not really an issue with me. I will not be able to try DUST as I only have an Xbox.

Dust in the first announce was a great sounding addition to EVE universe.

After every following announcement it just keeps sounding more and more ****. Limited, restricted, choked, artificial **** ... A mistake that hopefully doesent take down CCP as a company when it fails horribly at launch.

The problem with CCP as a company is that there are no repercussions for their employees if they fail.
For example, the people behind the failure that was Incarna are all still working at CCP.

Maybe it is time to start hoping that Dust does fail and it will finally force CCP to fire some of it's incompetent staff.
