Inside your ships control cabin!

Hi everyone!

This is my first post so go easy on me if this is in the wrong spot. Also forgive me if this question has been asked before. I was wondering if anyone would like to go inside their ship while flying or fighting this could go vice versa either choose the point of view now or select to go inside your ship. Eve has done a tremendous job creating the pilots lounge, could they also make the option of going inside you ships control cabin? Possible have multiple people in the ships control cabin all working to make the ship operational. A good idea would be like star trek, now I'm not saying copy them exactly. But would if you could look out the control cabin have a commander chair in the center of the room, a propulsion section, a war/missile/laser section, a radar or scanning section. You could either control all of it from you commanders chair or walk to each station in the control room. Do you think that would be cool, Dum, lame ect. Is it possible? To me this would be really fun but maybe it's just me!

Well the thing is, you're actually in your pod while flying your ship... so CCP would have to rewrite the back story of how the whole capsuleer thing works. It would definitely be cool, but the real issue is how the hell are you going to see what's going on with the fleet when you're inside a shiny command deck.

Well maybe you could start inside your pod press a button the doors open. then walk down a hallway, press another button and there is your control cabin. As far as seeing what going on.......... You could have a 3d pop up image of all ships flying around you. your HUD would still be there so you would now all ship and objects ect. It would also be cool to click on a character a options come up. Example you're in your commanders chair facing the glass window. You can see outside of this glass window and see an enemy in front of you, it is also on your 3d pop up device "were ever that is located?" so you click on your propulsion lieutenant and option pops up full thrust no thrust ect. click an option then you speak! full thrust lieutenant. That would be very impressive! Nothing is really impossible when it comes to computers we just need enough ideas and support.

Why would we ever need this feature? When you eject from your ship in your pod the ship remains still and is completely useless. Your crew is either non-existant or extremely limited. The only things they do is load guns and move stuff around the cargo hold, that's about all they do. The purpose of the pod is to get things done as fast as you can think them, that's why moving the ship is simultaneous but reloading takes 10 seconds.

I don't like this idea for a few reasons.

1. It serves no practical purpose, much like CQ. Like in the stations everything you can do in the Captains Quarters can be done much faster and much easier in the regular ship hanger. Anything we could do outside of our pods can be done much easier and faster inside them.

2. It screws with the lore. We are in pods for a reason. There is no crew to speak to and should the ship be destroyed then we would die forever. Why? Cloning requires the devices inside the pod to capture a perfect "snap shot" of our brain at the exact moment of death down to the microsecond. If a ship is destroyed and we are sitting in some stupid chair instead of our pods we are dead... game over...

3. CCP should be more focused on the actual space ship part of the game. How much fun can you possible have watching a a guy sit in a chair doing absolutely nothing but talking to random people and staring out the window?

Watch_ Fred Fred Frederation_ and stop cryptozoologist! Fight against the brutal genocide of fictional creatures across New Eden! Is that a metaphor? Probably not, but the fru-fru- people will sure love it!

Most EVE ships, even capsuleer ships, really do have a nontrivial crew count.

And still, capsuleers walking around giving verbal commands would be inefficient. The ship is plugged into your head for a reason.

So, this would be

 1. Unrealistic
 2. A, sorry to say, pointless drain on the developers' time
 3. Going against EVE's current direction.

Pod is completely sealed during flight. And we are naked, wired in an surrounded with Goo. Think the Matrix when Neo wakes up. "Opening a door" isn't an option.

I lied :o

On the other hand, just think how many easy kills those of us flying with the traditional interface would have against the people who thought that talking to the navigation officer on your control bridge to increase speed was a good idea.

I fully support this suggestion, for the sake of my killboard.

Eh you really want to turn your ship into the performance level of mission rats ?

Because thats what non-pod ships are like.

You're in your pod when you're in your ship, and I think it's canon (though I can't remember from where) that the EvE UI is what your character actually sees/hears.

I thought it'd be cool if you had a holographic projection that you could use to interact with your crew, but such things are probably left for fanfiction than wasting dev resources on things that don't have any gameplay value - we've already been down that path once already.

the fact that your main body/mind is in the pod doesn't mean you can't just use an avatar to hang around in the ship when you want to.

Ok "the pod is completely sealed during flight". Then why are we not naked in the pilots chamber, So we wake up unplug ourselves get dressed and go into the pilots chamber every time? Not to mention! but the ship is always in flight it never lands inside the station.

Yes, capuseers are naked and sealed in their pod.

Remember how upset people got when CCP took away ship spinning? Well imagine how upset they would have been if you had to wait 15 mins of so for your pilot to get out of the pod, have a shower to remove pod goo, dry off and then get dressed and do their hair and make-up before you got into the capains quarters. I for one am glad CCP skipped over that slight realism issue.

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

actually, walking around in ships would be awesome, even if it is against the eve lore, who gives a **** about that anyway? come on

i'd really like to see some more carbon eye candy, even if it only would be available to walk around on your ship when its docked

imagine you could visit your weaponry room and see how massive those 800mm autocannons are... hehe

or look at your drones in your dronebay in real life size, hobgoblins are almost the size of a big car i think

Hmmm... CCP might care about the lore, as do many of the players.

But inspecting yur ship while docked is well within it, even if it is pointless and a huge waste of devs resources.

I didn't think about that. This would be very cool eve would make more money from people coming into the game. Think about it when I started I was overwhelmed, and did not want to go out since my skills were so low I just logged in did skill then left. I was paying just to do skill?! or mine for 7 hours ughhhhhh. Second thought would if you could walk around your ship while mining. This just takes away the boredom, and gives an edge to the game. Graphics are extremely detailed think of how complex and intricate eve could make this. I now a lot of people who would be interested in this game and would love to just venture there ship. Especially if you could do missions on your ship docked, or not
