Small Remote Repair Modules

How are small remote repair modules best employed?

Which ships?

Best Scenarios?

I'll acknowledge they probably do make functional heat-sinks, yet I'm more interested in their use as actual remote repair modules.

Functional only if you are planning on using them, otherwise you're better off just leaving the spot empty for heat sinking.

If you want to try a bit of a novelty fleet that can actually work quite well in a co-ordinated gang. RR AF fleets have been known to be used. You need to 'anchor' onto ... probably the FC or at least some anchor ship which will keep you all nice and close range since they don't exactly have much range on the reps.

Other than that... offlined in a high slot but more for repping your drones or fleet up after a fight than as a heat sink.

offlined in my ishtar's extra highslots, ready to be onlined for some quick drone repair between rooms in a plex. In general, put them in empty highslots where they can still function as a heatsink and repair buddies when station repair isn't an option.

First: Small remote repair modules need a bit more range!

Second: RR Vengy/Wolf fleets are awesome. We've run a few... they have been entertaining and relatively successful.

Third: Before the recent AF buff, I had created a Mini-Guardian out of the Vengy (mostly for comedy).

I'll toss a few on my Ishtar to rep my drones if I don't need blasters for more DPS.
For more than a few PvE fights, drone tanking works better than armor tanking.

RRAF's - including armour Harpy, Ishkur, jag (now wolf - are awesome fun and hideously effective. Especially since the buff added extra slots and CPU. But remember, we are talking remote armour reps - the remote shield reps are horribly difficult to fit and overly cap intensive.

Your best bet is RR Vengeances, as rockets don't need cap and you get stupidly large armour resists. You can even do practise runs on Punishers; we managed to get a punisher to tank 40K real damage before it died.

What the guy above me said.

You should use a Centii A-type armour rep, not T2 to make this work. You get more range, lower cap use and more rep.

The cost of said deadspace module? About 3mil. People think it's worthless and dump it on contract for less, too.

Your anchor is the target. All orbit with afterburners at close range to mitigate damage and you won't stray out of rep range.

You're right, the cap use isn't lower : http://i.imgur.com/E24ow.jpg

But having the range is the most vital aspect, and it's the extra ~300m that can save you.

It also uses less CPU, which can often be vital.
