Just wanted to say that the whole CSM voting system is ridiculous.

Most players are probably only vaguely aware of the CSM elections or what they are.

The whole thing should be a LOT MORE involved with the actual game. With a simple UI in game which allows you to:

- Nominate candidates
- See the manifestos of potential candidates
- See the manifestos of ACTUAL candidates once they are selected
- BE ABLE TO VOTE FOR CANDIDATES!

The current system means most people can't even be bothered to get involved, and it allows big corps to manipulate the outcome much more effectively.

A simple but much more involving system would make the whole CSM thing a lot more engaging, and most likely are lot fairer.

If you check the campaing threads of some of the CSM candidates you will see that they are very much aware of the problem and plan to convince CCP to redesign the voting process as a whole for the next CSM election.

EDIT: Though to be fair, the CSM7 election even now has a MUCH higher participation than all the previous CSM elections. That probably means two things. First players begin to realize the CSM actually DOES matter and second the advertisement was better than before.

Yay 10 years! :D

Everyone knows the current system of voting/nominating "SUCKS", unbearably so. The whole thing is nearly hidden from the public at large. (At least this year there was a one-time popup when you logged in.) I had to dig through about 4 links before I even reached the voting page.

I agree with this, bringing the CSM to some kind of UI ingame would make them much more involved in the game. I didn't even know what they were until this year, but I haven't played for much more than a year either.

Edit: Anyways - people voting with their alts has kinda ****** up the whole most-votes-"wins" part. Rather most-accounts-"wins."

Also when the CSM UI gets added, if you click on their pic, it goes to viewer mode, where you can spin their avatars as much as you want to, helps to decide on who to vote for.

I've seen you try to be funny in lots of threads and I'm sorry to tell you it's really not working out. Please take up mining.

no debates, no tv commercials. just a self serving process that puts a handful of large corp reps in the same room as the management to continue the downward spiral of value to the smaller , unrepresented person. No amount of election change or grass roots effort will unseat the power brokers. Wait, am i talking about csm or the US general election?

I can agree here.

Disagree here. Voting notification has been on the login UI for a couple of days now.

Agree here. CCP should develop resources for players to get to know the candidates thoroughly. The whole campaign process should have start and finish dates and there should be a plethora of notifications and "official" events where everyone can participate, if not live, then by proxy.

CCP's handling of elections are far.....FAR.....from acceptable which is not to be confused with ideal, IMO.

Obviously you know about the CSM.

You clearly know how to find the forums.

Are you aware of the in-game web browser? That would be the UI you're looking for, complete with every single possible bit of information there is about each candidate on the internet. The more experienced candidates have advertised themselves all over the place.

All you have to do is go look.

(CCP's job is to provide the safe and secure voting method - it's your job to inform yourself and a candidate's job to provide the information)

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

It's like this:

If you're interested in the CSM and put in the effort to read a bit on their stances (which you can do via the voting page just fine, to an extend) then you can make an informed decision on who to vote for. If you have no fcking clue what the different candidates stand for and didn't put in the effort to figure it out a bit then you're probably shouldn't be allowed to vote in the first place.

For a far better explanation, watch this. (WARNING: link contains lots of swearing and stuff some folks would find hard to deal with).

I can't be expected to make informed decisions based on being aware of events which may or may not affect my experiences in New Eden therefore I agree with the OP. CCP don't make us use our brains.

First off, there is plenty of notification going around informing people about the CSM. You see it in the launch screen just before you log in as a pop up, you see it in the top of the news section on the right of the character selection screen, you see it in the community website, you see it in the EveGate webpage on the right side, people talk about it every now and then in NPC corp channels and even on local chat. I don't see how difficult it is to even be aware about the existence of the CSM. The links even provide details on what the candidates stand for and where to vote. It's not as hard to figure out as some of you make it out to be. If anything, you're blowing this way out of proportion.

The only thing I do agree with the OP on is that the voting system needs to be fixed. However, fixing it is the hard part because people will always find ways to break the voting system.

The CSM serves it's purpose. Giving CCP what amounts to free advertising as sites and magazines do writeups on it.

Working as intended.
