Noob escalation question

This has been bugging me for a while, so I thought I'd ask.

I finally noticed escalations in my journal, all expired, some time ago. Eventually got another one. Super! Jump in, get scrammed (wtf?!) and melt fairly quickly from all the damage I can't possibly deal with while not being able to get away.

So, first problem, only way I can see to get to an escalation site is to right click in the journal and warp to it. Is there another way? Unlike a mission site, there's not a way to warp to it from the 'right click in space' menu.

Second, is there a "proper" way to warp to an escalation site at a safe distance? The only warp option from the journal right click menu is plain warp. It seems excessively dumb to me to warp into an unknown situation at point blank range.

So, I have taken to warping to the site in my pod, bookmarking it, going back to my ship and warping to 30km (or whatever) to the bookmark. This feels like cheating and wrong from a lore/gameplay perspective. Surely I am missing a super-awesome UI feature here?

Nope, that's pretty much it.

It's even more annoying when there isn't a station system anywhere nearby, and the escalation is on your DPS toon. So you have to eject from ship and leave it in space to get a warp in for the tank. Roll

Haha, podscout. It's sad there's an actual term for it.

But even if you know, there's no benefit to warping in at 0 and fitting a big tank (which you may or may not have with you) just to survive the initial onslaught, when you can scout it out and come in safely. I wouldn't even mind going in blind, it's the scram I thought was a cheap shot.

It didn't occur to me to look it up, in all the excitement of actually getting an escalation.

When you get an escalation, there should be a message box pop up on the screen indicating the name of the escalation. You can then check the Evelopedia or goggle it for more information. Expired expeditions can be removed from the journal with r-click option.

Yeah, the only way to access the expedition location is with the r-click option in the journal which unfortunately has you warp to 0. If in a fleet, you can't do a fleet warp either, all members must warp to you after you have reached the site.

If an escalation is gained from the site while in a fleet, all members will get a notification message informing them that a member of the fleet has received the next escalation location.

You have 24 hrs to reach the escalation site and the timer will be reset again when you warp to the site. As long as the site Commander or Overseer structure is intact, the site will remain active within the time allocated. After they are destroyed, the site is completed and if you warp away the site will despawn and the location removed from the journal. So if you want to loot and salvage make sure to bookmark the location before leaving.

Besides warping to the site in a pod and bookmarking the area beacon, you can also use a Cov Ops cloaked ship and do the same thing. Just make sure to have the beacon selected to show on the overview and when you come out of warp while cloaked, click on the beacon and bookmark it. You can also select 'Keep Range' which is set at a specific distance. Have an overview tab set up to show everything, that way all objects will be listed and you can maintain cloak by staying over 2000 m distance from all objects. Sometimes the beacon will decloak you, just quickly bookmark it and warp away. The cloaked action is especially helpful when you're in unsafe territory such as low / null sec.

When using the cloak and warp action, for a lore/gameplay perspective you're basically scouting the site allowing you to maneuver your ship into position for a fleet to warp in (make sure they don't warp to 0 on you). If going solo, you can bookmark different objects (Asteroid, ruins, etc.) located at the site to have various multiple warp in points available. This can be used sorta like a hit and run type action to quickly weed out smaller NPC ship's if a large force is present.

Anyway, have fun and good luck on future expeditions.
