Sniping 101

Using modules which lower your signature radius are great for sniping battle ships as they make you harder to probe.

Having Velocity and Angular Velocity columns on your overview will help you better pick a target to shoot at while sniping.

Interdiction ships cannot warp cloaked so have your directional scan open and set to a distance that provides you enough time to warp off if they get too close.

Using tracking enhancers instead of damage modifiers can many times increase your damage more depending on your target.

Setting the drones engage hotkey to ` (accent mark next to the '1' key at the top left) makes it very easy and fluid for you to press F1 and ` at the same time for full damage potential.

On Eve Gate, If you've added some dude as a contact, and they also have you added as a contact, with the default settings in Eve Gate both of you will each be able to see ALL of each others contacts.

Not a problem if it's a chill and trusted bro that you just added, but if it's just some dude that you don't really know and if you don't want him sniffing around and looking at you contact list then;

Eve-Gate > Profile Settings > set both drop down menu's to "no piliots" and wahla.

Group chats with local, corp, and alliance to make them "uncloseable". Grouping them with these chats makes them only minimizable.

When using dscan click on your ship to make a small solid square bracket appear on it. Aim your dscan at celestials through that bracket. It is the key to being able to pull off 15 degree scans and nail down that someone is at a specific belt or moon.

If you want to have the number of people in local you can keep local off to a separate window and then double click the window at the top. This puts it into a pseudo minmized mode that maintains the channel name and number of people in it as if in the full window. Double click again to restore. This can be done with a lot of other windows as well.

A lot of windows have a '?' button at the top that opens a quick access list of items and link to evelopieda articles and such on how to do things within that window, for instance the Science and Industry window would feature stuff on how to manufacture.

Since Crucible, fleets can have a MOTD, so set one with info about what to bring and what system they need to goto so that they can see it as soon as they join.

Fleet leaders and the boss can view "Fleet Composition" to see which ships, what system, and how much skill each member has in the 3 main fleet skills (Leadership, Wing Command, and Fleet Command)

Double clicking a planet int he list of planets in the S&I window will automatically open it up into planet view for you. (Allowing you the ability to skip the right click and selecting view in planet mode)

You can set any "Warp to" distance by right clicking the button and typing in a number in meters. This can let you warp in exactly at optimal instead of kinda close.

The Thukker Tribe Large Shield Extender has almsot a good stats as the Republic Fleet one but can be purchased from the LP store for just LP, ISK, and a T1 version, whereas the RF one requires amarr tags and iirc is for the militia LP only. If you have some spare CONCORD LP try covert it over to thukker mix and getting yourself some low sig LSEs =D

When in wormholes, set dscan to maximum distance include probes on your overview and spam it continuously. Some 'holers can't be bothered to track you down the hard way and so you might survive.

Following on from this, if you see probes, they ARE hunting you down. Panic.

When in wormholes, expect to die. A covert ops fleet can decloak, lock and point you before you've even hit the button to start aligning.

When carebearing in losec, watch local. If it has someone who isn't blue, green or purple then you should be sat at a safespot, preferably cloaked. Failing this, spam dscan more.

Not all 'holers are inglorious wolves there to eat your ship alive. If you don't want a fight, check to see if diplomats/directors of the corp living in the wormhole you're ninja'ing and talk to them. They'll either tell you that you'll get a fight, or tell you to go ahead. Some people are stupid enough just to run ladar and gravi. On that note, all wolves have a price. Sometimes it isn't your killmail. Local is there for a reason: begging for your life IS one of them.

One of your biggest hurdles as a newbie is choice paralysis. If you can't decide what you want to do, say f*** it and pick one, try it and see if it's fun, then try another if it's not. Don't spend forever finding the perfect answer.

one or two very useful titbits here (happy that I know most of the stuff in this thread now!)

when using multiple logins - evernote.com works great in the in game browser for sharing information between them: shopping lists, things to cut and paste etc.

And how do you transfer LP's??

Also: at anytime you can right-click a character in local and select BLOCK to hide all future chat messages. Using with gusto works wonders in Jita.

All the people talking about how Orca corporate hangers can now be scanned are wrong. The change to Orcas allowed NPC's to scan your other hangers for contraband. Players can still only see cargohold contents.

Tested approximately 3 minutes ago.

If you are a corp CEO or director, read up about creating Titles which act as pre-defined sets of roles. Then make sure that you only ever use title to assign roles, it makes life soo much easier.

You may have to bludgeon your directors into using them and not clicking random things though. ;)

If you live in low/null sec, keep always your local chat channel open to see who is in system and have an instant intel on possible threats.
If you like to chat on other channels, then you can drag local channel out of the chat window and place it in another position on the screen. I also recommend to resize the local window so that it can show many ppl in the right column. Reduce the horizontal size to minimum and try to maximize the vertical size.

This shot can be a good example:

Also do this in empire if you are at war with another group of players.

Also, try and get all those hostiles in your contacts on the watch list. You will see them as being dec'd to you regardless, but it's nice to know they're online.

Lastly, if there is a WT in local and you do not know where they are, do not undock in something slow and/or expensive. Chances are you will get blown up, and your corp/alliance will yell at you.

Only CONCORD LP is transferable and it has a less than a 1:1 exchange rate.

But if you incursion a lot it shouldn't be much of an issue to you.
