Exactly like in real life.

Welcome to enlightenment. :)

Scams add character to the game. There's no real reason this shouldn't be allowed,
even Vote-Scams. Hell ... people get manipulated and lied to all day long in reallife too.

You're ignoring the fact that there wouldn't be any scammers if there weren't any idiots falling for them.
People don't need protection, they need to learn to take care of themselves.

So its fine to have a group of csm that basically scammed their way to csm... awesome...

How is this different from any other elected government in the world?

Why Can't I have a picture signature.

Also please support graphical immersion, bring back the art that brought people to EvE online originaly.

Please DO NOT compare real life politics to eve. Its a game and not the same at all, in anyway shape or form.
RL politicians do have to follow certain codes of practice. Yes there are some dodgy ones, but once they get found out they are removed, arrested, dealt with etc.. In eve there seems to be no such codes of practice.

You don't get it.
It doesn't matter what type of scam it is ... it's still a scam.

Besides, pre-election politicians often promise money.
There's no difference.

The comparison works perfectly here, because that's just the way it is.

There's really no difference, but in real life it's actually worse.

In real life, scams are actually illegal but politicians can do whatever they want.
In EvE, scams are actually legal ... so why shouldn't they do what they are allowed to do anyway ?

You still failed to give a valid reason to why it shouldn't.

I must say that the world in YOUR head seriously doesn't seem on par with what's actually going on around you.

No you fail at understanding politicians can not DO WHAT THEY WANT. They must follow some code of practice, as i have mentioned above. If they get caught abusing the system, then they are dealt with...I mean ofc there is corruption everywhere, politicians, police etc, but if they get found out, they have consequences to pay.
You tell me where a politician in a democratic world, who has been found out of some sort of corruption, breaking of code of practice has just been allowed to stay in post?

Ill say it again, in eve (and its a game) there is no such codes of practice around elections and votes, hence its a free for all.
Do you really think scamming your way to CSM, really gives the CSM any credability? Isnt this what Mittani and CSM6 tried so hard to resolve? Im confused...

And again, if i pay for a monthly subscription, and a person scams their way on to CSM, and can effect my gameplay throught their input on the CSM, where i have no choice in the matter, effectively being passively scammed, is not acceptable.

infact if this is really the way eve is going, im more than happy to cancel my subs

Scamming in game (although i think it ruins the game) is all fine and dandy. But to scam votes (ppl like darius, and im sure ppl like mittani etc do it too) is going a bit too far. Surely CCP you dont allow this too? Making a mockery of the an already flawed system.
CCP ffs start putting some rules around this. Jeez its probably the most abused, corrupt, dodgy and manipulative voting system i have ever seen,
Having to scam your way onto the CSM? Really?

I have a few thoughts on this.

1. EVE is game built with scamming in mind. Smart people avoid the scams. Others fall for them.
2. I am sorry you did not get the PLEX you wanted. Greed can often be your undoing.
3. The person accepting the bribe is just as corrupt as the person offering it.
4. Making allegations that people are doing something when there are, at best, screencaps of one doing it is a disgusting, reprehensible activity you seal clubber*.

* Well, I don't know if you really go out there and club baby seals. Or beat your wife. But I'm not going to say you do something until I have *proof* you do it. Otherwise I am just slandering your name for no purpose. Why do you do that kind of thing?

Scamming for votes came to EvE about 3 seconds after there was something to vote for.

I hear some people meta-game wardec votes still.

Wouldn't that be scamming for votes?

Well? Another scam over another game.

I bet the OP doesn't bluff in poker, either. I'm sure he's quite a winner.

If your so bothered by this why post in the forums? You do realize that these threads might as well be an endorsement for the candidates who use these tactics.

Simply don't vote for them, THE END!

If you really must complain, do after the election.

lol... I'm personally not a fan of scamming, but accept it as part of the game. I think it adds a LOT of character to EvE, and is generally good for the game.

I was worried that a CSM member was CHEATING to get votes.....

Offering a bribe and not paying it to get votes is just standard politics... I see no issues here...

If he directs you to a site, so you think you're voting for someone else and end up voting for him... or hacks the system to give himself votes, THEN you have a case...

Bribing, begging, lieing, cheerleading, spamming local, spamming forums, blogging, youtubing, and what-not are ALL standard forms of running for an office. All your whining and bitching amounts to free publicity for him... In other words, you're supporting the guy you claim to be against because he offered a bribe for you to vote for him and then didn't deliver.

Until he actually steals your vote by hacking or cheating, it's nothing new and nobody gives a ****...

CCP isn't interested in the QUALITY of the CSM. That's one reason they love Mitt. If he makes demands, they're too ridiculous to take seriously. CCP likes to claim they have player input. It's like a detergent claiming they get your whites whiter...whites whiter...Mitt. Maybe that's a poor analogy.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

How do you scam for votes? Is this an out of game mechanic or something?
