I think most people have around 2 accounts. A few people that play the game a little more than casually like me use many accounts, I personally have 14 accounts, and pre-monicle-gate had nearly 20. Some are training to be sold via bazzare, others to be transfered to other accounts to reduce cost/maximize profit. And most just let me fly capital ships recklessly for fun without having to grind like a madman, pay through the nose like a RMT'er, or scam like... well... an eve player. :P

I have three accounts that I have paid for. I only run one right now. I have been known to make a trial account now and then to tinker with things I don't want to waste time on with my main. Not sure if I'll ever go back to using more than one account, I've changed my focus.

Yeah, two sounds like a good "guesstimate". A lot of people have alts, and people with 3+ accounts are not uncommon, so it probably averages out to 2.

I told myself when I started I'd never get an alt, because it would be a sign I'm addicted. I have two accounts Sad

And when I have enough isk to plex two accounts i'll consider a third Smile

Actually in a pvp game with session changes (zone changes, map changes whatever) an alt is almost mandatory for several reasons and not only the "travel" one but it's mainly the first one:

1 trains fight stuff, the seond is your isk maker (mining/production whatever)

Always same route, your alt can now:
-scout your route safely (cloack frigates are dam easy to train)

-use it to cyno
-use it to remote/jam
-use it to disrupt or scan systems for intell/anoms

-once basic industrie is donne, witch is quite fast if you're not getting in to capital/T2 ships building, you can always train freighters, jump freighters, carriers.

If you're doing PI in null/low have a good market place or can move easily your production +research candies, your alt's account can be played for free with a minimum of time investment.

How about the number of average accounts?

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

Most people I've known, and random people I talk to about the topic claim to have 2 accts minimum, then you have hardcores (read:lunatics) who have 30 or so and then everyone else in between.

Me? Just one account. Me and like 5 other people (seems like anyway). I'd be astonished if 50k actual live players are subbed in total.
