I'm looking at purchasing one of these programs. I've played around with both of them, but I'd like to ever other people's opinions on them if I could. Which do you prefer and why?

Get Adobe Premiere which is much cheaper. and invest in adobe after effects which is amazing.

The price difference between the two is roughly 20 bucks, so that's not really an issue. But after effects is like 700 bucks. That's a bit beyond me for something I'm not using professionally. It sounds awesome, but is just way beyond me right now.
