For some reason the launcher keeps coming up Tranquility for me.

Needless to say it won't actually start at that point.

Yes, I know there's a Linux forum, but this is only a Singularity issue with the launcher, so posting here.

Does it lauch TQ or show the stats?
Even if it shows stats its directed at Sisi.

[quote=Salpun]As the launcher soft ware changes stuff like usability needs to be looked at.
The file in the main eve directory to install the new launcher needs to be diffrent then the name in the launcher file it creates.

ie.

The launcher.exe in the main eve folder needs to be named launcher-installer. Its currently setup to run a install program each time. Which adds to the delay of start up if you only see that file to create a short cut and use it to run the launcher.

The launcher.exe in the laucher folder, when used to creat a short cut, launches the launcher without installing the laucher again. It will be interesting when the next patch comes out what changes are made and if the structure of the files changes again and how it installs a new version of itself.

The only time it runs that launcher installer is when an update is needed for the Launcher itself. I was actually going over the text in the updater on Friday to get them all translated. I'd love to hear your opinions on what you think needs changing elsewhere in the UI though.

As Sisi is down for patching ill just wait until its back up again to give any more feed back Twisted

The second thing I am going to do after I up date the build using the in folder exe short cut, is to use my other main sisi folder short cut to see if it still has the same fuctionality. Twisted

New build only updatable using sisi launcher.
Short cuts did not update launcher and did not start sisi update until launched and canceled the sisi launcher update.
Same version of the launcher.[/quote

Update

New version still runs the update proccess every time if you link off the launcher exe in the main eve folder.

There is still not an option to reenable the launcher from inside the client. Makes testing annoyingWhat?

The options menu is better.

I am not entirely sure I understand what you mean here. Can you elaborate a bit?

We have plans to put in a shortcut called "Force Launcher" or something similar that people can run to start up the Launcher. In the meantime you can go into the \launcher\cache folder and delete settings.yaml to restore any settings you have done.

Setting up short cuts to use the launcher I have two exe's to link to.
There are two launcher exe files in my Sisi folder one is in the main folder and one is in the launcher folder.

The launcher exe in the main eve folder runs the update check every time and wipes any setting that are linked to that short cut.

If you link the launcher exe in the launcher folder It works properly. But there is not a launcher short cut that can just be copied and pasted on to the desktop.

It will be replaced with the eve online or sisi main short cut in time but its going to be an issue if you use the wrong exe file when you do it.

Also the short cuts did not up date this time. Maybe the new version of the laucher is smoother but I had to use the sisi laucher to update this time around.

Also when will the launcher replace the sisi launcher with its log server call up and full information about what is being patched?

Hi,

Over the last month or so we have been going between multiple different ways of starting the Launcher, so all the shortcuts you see in the folder are most likely made by yourself or created when we were still testing some things out.

If you do a fresh install of the Singularity client you will see that none of the shortcuts are still there.

The way you should start the Launcher and the client is like you have always done it, by starting eve.exe or having a shortcut to eve.exe.

The sisi launcher is no longer supported and shouldn't be used anymore.

I hope that clears things out.

Okay all is good after clearing out and reinstalling the Sisi patches.

When you select another language and go back to english. It locks the launcher and goes in to Offline mode. The "restart "launcer" needs a H and the launcher does not restart when the blue text is clicked.

When is the Sisi option going to be included in the launcher?

QA is still asking for logging while trouble shooting issues. Not having it start on log in to Sisi is a step back in functionality.

I had some issues last night with attempt to "show info" on any item causing a client crash. I attempted to fix my Singularity client using the Launcher-based repair tool, but this resulted in my SiSi client install being patched to be compatible with Tranquility.

I ran the old, unsupported SiSi Updater tool and it reverted my install to SiSi (on the second attempt), but the "show info" crash remains.

Hallo!

Yay for newness. :) My thoughts:

I like it because: it makes patching a seamless process, even more so than the previous patcher [only had a few "confusion spots," but overall it was pretty good.] It makes patching and launching feel very connected, which is awesome. It's also easier on resources... not a bad added-bonus.

My criticisms:
Personally, and this is -just- my opinion, but I don't like the "MMO" style of it. It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't stand out as much as it could. I'm not sure exactly how to explain that, but when I think of Eve, I think of striking, clean, minimal, and dark.

While the new launcher isn't ugly, by any standard, it doesn't strike me as... Eve. It strikes me more as Sins of a Solar Empire. What would really make it stand out is a clean, minimal, futuristic [but more to the point -- contemporary] design. European design has always drawn from this theory; probably dating back to the Bauhaus stylistic approach, and Swiss type styles. Clean, slick, solid. That's what I think of when I think of Eve. I think of "damn, that just looks awesome." It's getting there; the transparent black windows are awesome, but right now the buttons/amount of colors/complex background, it just looks kind of nice. I guess to sum up my whole rambling, it could just be pushed a little more.

That said, I know artists are hard workers [I'm a designer -- and even though we get to draw pretty pictures all day, mathematicians and engineers, they're damn stressful pretty pictures] and they should be proud of it, and not everyone is going to agree. So, bazinga to me

Yerik

Ps -- Rock on, I really look up to you guys!

This is totally unrelated to the Launcher, but more info regarding this crash would be useful, please send in a bug report.

Yeah, I was mentioning it here more for the Launcher repair shenanigans than the "show info" bug. The bug reporting links in-game lead to Tranquility-related bug-report pages. Is there a separate location for reportage of SiSi bugs or should I just mention SiSi in a TQ bug report?

When you create a new state of the art launcher please implement character switching on your account without being forced to log out/in every time you want to. That is such a pain.

Also the animations in the old launcher for every major update were quite fun to watch. Right now the launcher feels a little too static.

Yay 10 years! :D

Not sure is any of this has been mentioned before but...

Surely the point of a luancher should be (for example) Character selection (as well as patch updates) Are there any plans to introduce this so as not to have character selection pop up when the Client loads? Other wise is seems a little pointless.

On the flip side of that, (as mentioned above by Azure Moonlight) are there any plans to introduce a function ingame to actually SWITCH to a different character (on the same account) without having to close the client and re-launching it? This type of functionality would seem more useful and be of more benefit.

Discuss! :)

I just downloaded and installed a fresh Singularity install and it has the patch 28 in the end. When I launch eve.exe, the launcher opens and wants to update it to Tranquility patch :/ is that normal or?

Just start the launcher directly:
launcher.exe /server:singularity

Or the exefile - directly:
EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe /nosplash /noconsole /server:singularity
