Hi everyone and thanks for your feedback on this issue, we need a few more data points to help narrow down potential causes. If you could please reply here with data along these lines it would be invaluable to us:

OS X version: 10.6
Approx. date of issue first occurring: January 24th (Crucible 1.1)
Clearing cache helps: Yes, but only for about an hour in Jita watching local chat.

Note that it is also of value to post if you are not having this issue at all.

Aye, not working again. This started after the 1.1 release, OX 10.7, clearing cache only works for a small time then it's back to no pictures, well, about 10% pictures and the rest- zip.

Yep, it looks like I spoke too soon. Still doesn't work.

Clearing cache works for a hour or so.

Started with Crucible 1.1, around Jan 24th I think.

Clearing the cache did result in portraits showing up. But a few minutes of scrolling about in Jita local list, and the no-loading issue started showing up again. Seems to get worse with time.

Also odd things like agents I have seen in a station (but not talked to before the 24th) do have their portraits in the agent list in station services, but when I talk to them they do not have a portrait in the agent convo window.

1st: I still have this issue

OS X version: 10.7.2
Approx. date of issue first occurring: January 24th (Crucible 1.1)
Clearing cache helps: Yes, but only for about half an hour in Jita watching local chat.

I have further tried to install the EVE Windows-version under wine with WineBottler and CrossOver - both unsuccessful. Whine crashes when entering game - might be the DirectX thing.

I thought that the EVE-client uses the browser-functions from the operating system to receive the pictures, but in the MAC-EVE-Wine-Wrap is no browser included, and in the registry it is IE6 defined.

Same here, while dual boxing its different on each client for some odd reason.

OS X version: 10.6.8 IMac 27"
Approx start date: 1/24/12
Clearing cache helps: at the start, but quickly goes back to blank pics

About 3 days after the 1.1
Clearing cache doesn't help. However, as up to today, some character's avatar doesn't appear, but then appears, and then remains so. But as for the rest, their avatar never shows up.

In addition, agent mission avatars don't show up either.

Who is using other WINE-Software AND has this bug?

I have, and it starts to smell like a version-conflict for me.

We have found something, but it is still being investigated. Should have a solution by mid March not mid Feb as stated above.

The interim solution Konflikt is referring to was to revert to the previous situation which meant users downloading too many avatar images but that isn't being implemented unless a proper solution is deemed infeasible.

The picture problem has not been fixed and the mid February 1.2 Crucible patch is a Nightmare that makes the game unplayable. For the record all the symptoms i have experienced have been long logged in Mac threads i discovered by going back and reading them, seems like you actually never solve Mac issues. Players come up with work arounds or quit. I never even complained about the loss of pictures because I knew it would not rise to the level of someone actually fixing it because it didn't impact revenues for CCP in a major way. When the patch made the game unplayable for me I discovered these Mac forum threads and if you ignore the dates they all seem current same problems again and again. Extremely disheartening that every patch and update Mac users have to experience disasters. I would never have started this game if you had been honest and said the Mac playability was questionable and poorly supported, CCP claimed Mac compatibility and i was foolish enough to believe you guys.

Truly a poor showing CCP.

Bit late to the party here. Reported as a bug but didn't bother posting this earlier because it seemed like there were bigger problems other people had post-Crucible. Sounds like a possible fix is in the works, but a little more data won't hurt.

Problem since: Jan 24th
OSX: 10.6.8
2006 Mac Pro, dual-quad procs
6GB memory
ATI 5770

Cache clearing: Helps briefly. What seems to happen is that a certain # of small portraits in chat load, then no more. Right after a cache clear I can get big portraits in Get Info, but that breaks down quickly. Same problem after, portraits don't load in small or big or bigger, and the full-body character viewer loads with screwy textures.

As well as repeatedly clearing the cache, I have run the patch/repair hash checker, which did nothing but remove a few empty folders inside the app directory, and made no difference to the portrait problem. I also combed through the Console records looking for potential issues, and found nothing I could associate with Eve.

I'm pretty comfortable doing stuff in Console and Terminal, so if there's any additional data I can get for you please mail me and ask. As an owner of an older machine I may encounter issues that testers with new and shiny models won't.

Is this still on-schedule?
