I wounder can you jam a 10AB in it? make it like a little 100AB tengu?

I wanted to paint my space ship red, but I couldn't find enough goats.

It really doesnt have the agility to benefit from a 10mn

The problem with the Hawk is that it looks good on paper, but sucks in reality. The bonuses are good (though the boost bonus needs to be changed to resists) and the slot layout is awesome, but it has nowhere near enough CPU or grid to make use of them.

If you fit a MWD, you run out of cap and grid. If you fit an AB you're failfit and die.

If you fit an active tank, you run out of CPU. If you fit a passive tank, you waste a bonus and run out of CPU and grid.

If you fit rockets, you have short range and are extremely vulnerable to being kited. If you fit light missiles, you have horrible dps and you run out of CPU and grid.

If you fit ewar, you run out of CPU.

If you fit for fleet tackle (MWD + long point) you have a Harpy with less dps, less tank, and less range.

If you fit for solo frigate PVP, you die against anything that isn't a solo AB frigate.

Sure, if you're an experienced PvP pilot with all-V skills you can kill stuff in a Hawk, but the real question is why you're flying one in the first place. Unless your goal is "make PvP videos in a Hawk" other ships do the job better.

I don't know about you but its easier to fit than the Hookbill ever was. If you are running out of grid or CPU in half the situations you mention you probably shouldn't be in the Hawk. Currently the three fits I use most regularly are a dual prop fit (The only fitting mod is a MAPC, it has a buffer, rockets web scram t2 AB and a named MWD), Buffer with a dual web (Again no real issues except using some meta 3/4 mods, webs for example) and an armour fit with a 400mm plate except now it has a td (all meta 4 ewar but not really something that is an issue)

also 13-15km range on a short range high dps weapon system at frigate level is going to have better luck against kiting frigs than any other short range weapon system, but to be honest the Rocket AB Hawk is as vulnerable to kiters as any close ranged ab frigate, except with better range that its compatriots.

I find it convenient that an overheated web has the same range as the rockets. And with the better fitting stats, I can now fit an MWD and still be useful. Nos is really stellar on the Hawk. It does have cap issues and this helps a great deal.

I know you'll lol at this. But when Incursion came out, I went on Sisi to try it out and took a rocket Hawk into the scout sites. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could solo them by over heating my webber. It was challenging. But it could be done with regularity so long as I was careful not to burn out the web.

... Actually I'd like to see that flown in a system where there are Loki and Tengu boosts available. The results:

  • 128 DPS (fury)
  • 2323 m/s not overheated (3314 m/s overheated), with 19.7s align time.
  • 13.1k EHP
  • 46.2 sig radius
  • 40 km point range
  • Chance of hilarity: 100%

I just happen to know where I can find a Loki/Tengu booster. Build it and come fly with us for a couple days. :P

Ed: Also, my personal word that we won't kill you. Intentionally. The POS might, so bring your own or log in space.

I'm an idiot, don't mind me.

Wish I could, but I don't have the AF V, T2 SMLs, or the 1.5 billion ISK necessary for fitting this Hawk. The former two can be easily solved in a month or two, but the latter is much more difficult. Sorry!
