Ubuntu 10.04 -- Wine 1.4-rc2 -- Missing Login Menu

Hello All,

I've not yet tried installing Eve on Linux. So, this is my first go. Also, I realize that Ubuntu 10.04 is a rather old distro.

After installation, the splash loads, then the crucible menu animation loads with music and ships flying about. However, no login menu is available. Also, the ESC menu does not popup on hitting ESC. To me, it seems I may be missing a library or a font.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks,

Before ( well les than a year ago ) You had to copy Arial.ttf from the font folder of Windows and paste it in the Font folder of wine.
Don't know if is still needed, but it might do the trick .

Just follow the instructions here: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/System_security, or here: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=24887. These two pages covered all but the CQ problems for me.

I have a fruit cup and I'm not afraid to use it.

I think he wanted to link you here and here, but he failed. Linking is hard and checking your posts is even harder P

Client does startup, but no text showing or whatever. Music does play, and the animation works fine aswell.

I am currently using Linux Mint 10 with wine 1.4 rc6.
Installed fonts, vcrun 2005, 2008 and 2010.
Video driver is up and running aswell

Also did a hard copy from the fonts directly into the wine/windows/fonts folder. But without result.

Any other solutions mayby?
