Trial is too limited?

So, the game has a "14 day trial". That's great.

However I played just a few hours, completed the 10 training missions for the Industry career, and got a ship called Wreathe as a reward. The problem is that to use that ship, I need the skill "Minmatar Industrial", and that cannot be used with a trial account.

So I'm already basically progressed as far as I can on my first day, what am I supposed to do for the remaining 13 of the trial? Grind minerals with my frigate? I know I can (and probably should) do the other training missions as well (e.g. combat career), but this still seems somewhat limited.

No, you're not.

You know there are other mission agents out there?
You can explore signatures and anomalies, do some trading, ratting, fly with other players in fleets, try PvP, do SoE Epic Arc, ... Just look around. Career agent missions told you what you can do.

EDIT: SoE Epic Arc can be started by talking to sister Alitura in Arnon system. Open "People and Places", in upper search box type "Arnon", choose "Solar system" from drop-down list and search. When new window pops-up, right-click on Arnon, "Set destination" and fly through the yellow gates (this can take a while). When you arrive, dock at the station (I don't remember and I can't check now, but I think there's only one station there...), find sister Alitura in "Agents" and... you know the drill.

Don't limit yourself (i.e. think about eve in the same way you would another game). The Career agents are just there to give you a basic idea of what some of the "career" paths ... and they ever so barely scratch the surface of each of those.

So, go out there and have fun... the universe is yours (if you're bold enough to take it).

All ships in eve are tools, they're not necessarily bound to the same "progression" scheme that you would have in other games. Just because you're blocked from using some of the tools doesn't mean that you've reached the end of what you can do.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

The Wreathe is a hauler. The trial restricts use of haulers because of potential abuse by people just creating trial accounts to transport their stuff cheaply and safely.

You have access to all T1 frigates and cruisers with your trial. Go get one and shoot some things.

Ya the wreathe is just a weird exception. It's trial restricted yet they throw it at you on your first days. CCP is in constant iteration of the New Player Experience so hopefully the next expansion removes the silly thing or does something to tell you before hand that you won't be able to use it.

You can however get up to a Rupture/Stabber/Bellicose/Scythe within a 14 day trials so go try one of them. It MUCH easier to get into a cruiser after having done the military, advanced military agents and then going and doing the SOE epic arc. Probably buy the cruiser halfway through since it's very helpful to have a bigger ship on the last few missions.

+1 to each of the above mentioned replies.

You will never be stuck / reach end-game in EVE, as there is none

As other people have said, your issue is your misconception that bigger is better in Eve and that there's a progression to ships. The Wreath isn't a better ship than the Rifter you already have, it's just different. For instance, the Wreath would quickly DIAF if it was fighting a Rifter, but the Wreath can carry many times more cargo than the Rifter can.

Instead of worrying about the Wreath, look at all the other ships you can fly and all the stuff you can do instead. And you can also look at this diagram of what to do in Eve. You can do 1/3 to 1/2 of the stuff on that chart, if not more, on a trial.

So you did the 10 Industry missions, means there are still 40 other career agent missions open to you, and I strongly suggest you do them. Even when you want to be an industry player you WILL encounter combat in EVE at one point, there is now safe place in space.

After that there is the SoE Epic Arc, which is around 50 missions long. And if you complete that, there plenty of normal mission agents all across the universe that offer you missions you can do.

As trial you can't get into industrial ships because of the reason mentioned above: disposable free transport alts.
But you can still use frigates, destroyers and cruisers.

So there is plenty of stuff to do for the remaining 10 days of your trial account.

If you really really want to haul large amounts of stuff around, look at the Exequror. It gets a cargohold bonus. Nowhere near as big as a Wreathe or any other hauler, but bigger than any other frigates/cruisers.

I don't need them, I have multiple accounts that have spare characters to haul for me.

Considered it, actually, but they don't have any web dev positions.

They just don't want me to fix the forums P.
