I thought they stopped at the IIIs for the war and lost most of the tech when Reach got glassed over.

WTH happened? How are there new weapons and the sort.
Curse you bungie/343!

Doesnt mean they didnt start building more after the fact... Then again I didnt read any of the books.

However I dont like the idea of them trying make MC "More humanistic" I like that he doesnt talk much. Like gordon freemen in HL2 because he's silent and people ask you questions you fill in the answers/your own dialogue how you like.

Also look they're adding events like COD (Every 15minutes you get the wind knocked outta you or in a wreck and have to watch with no control) Super lame because halo is all about running and gunning, and an epic feel.

We'll see how the Halo 4 story pans out, we won't know till it's released.

*****SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE THAT HAVENT READ THE BOOKS*****

I haven't read the latest books, but they are just a filler for more back-story. For those that don't know, they got to Spartan III's back on Onyx training under Kurt (a Spartan II), then Halo went down, Kurt, the guy who trained the Spartan III's, died and Dr. Halsey who developed the II's got stuck along with a bunch of II's/III's in the micro-dyson sphere.

But.

I'm sure the ONI had backups of all the research that went on at Reach, especially the Spartans (Ackerson is still alive no doubt) and from what I could tell, Humans have delved into using Forerunner tech while rebuilding after the Covenant war. Wouldn't surprise me if they started a new line of research based on the II's, the III's, their augmentations AND mixed it all with possible Forerunner technology to create a IV version.
This is all just speculation mind you.

The Spartans were the most expensive, yet most effective military unit the Humans had, so I'm sure more are on the way. The Flood are still out there and who knows what else. The ONI were just dicks that they didnt provide the III's with Mjolnir armour ($$$$). Kurt was also ******** that he didn't use his own Mjolnir suit back on Onyx, even though he kept it updated and battle-ready. He'd most likely still be alive and maybe a few more of the other Spartans would be aswell (Dante, Holly, Will), since he'd have been better able to protect them and/or fight with his team.

Oh well. We'll see what happens.

The only thing I fear, is running out of beer !

Ackerson bit it in one of the comics when he was captured and tortured to death.

Pic (kinda gross).

Ghost of Onyx was the last Halo book I read. I read the first 3 as well. Any of the new stuff good?

Indah why are you replying to threads not aimed at you?
Also you look a bit air-headed.

Anyways seems it looks like I need to catch up on the comics I haven't gotten any of them.
I always felt the games feel way short of the entire halo universe.

I can tell you First Strike is an amazing book. It is the Story of how Master Chief and Johnson make it back to Earth from Halo and even introduces the Arbiter before he was a serious character. The Flood is just a deeper look at the first game with more emphasis on the characters. Fall of Reach a lot of the Canon has been changed for a quite frankly not as good story wise game but it is still a thrilling good read.

Spartan IVs are adult humans who volentered for the spartan program post Covenent war. it's explaind in Glasslands. as for the new teck the S IIIs and S IIs recoverd a large amount of forruner tec from ONYX and don't forget all the covenent tec they humans now have time to look at and improve on.

Those who wish to end War wish to end what it means to be human. Those who advocate War do not know its power. Yet Those who learn from War will be remembered for all time.

one thing I've never understood about the story is that they are wearing these suits that can toss about a tank with little effort, but they still have to put up with such significant kickback from an assault rifle?

So it would be like taking and ODST and spartanizing him.

Oh dear.

Well I watched the video and they said they are going to explain the RvB multiplayer. I am pertty sure its VT training.
I wonder how they're going to make cheif feel more super human thats a pertty hard thing to convey in a game but its more about director senses and the ability to be creative with it. None the less it seems halo was passed onto good hands in terms of design, story, music, and graphics unlike some other poor shooter series out there (COD with its 4 companies).

Yeah I sorta fell off the map keeping up to date on the halo background need to order some books and get caught up.

This is a general discussion forum and so it is possible that some people don't know what is a Spartan IV, or even worst, some may mistake your Spartan IV for some other Spartan. Thus writing a clear, descriptive title, like "Halo: Spartan Ivs?" would save time and would not mislead people, which is kind of polite thing to do in a General Discussion forum.

That's a Spartan 103 not a Spartan IV. Also I found the mech warrior and robotech spartans on the google for spartan IV before found that IFV.

I try not to reply based on the title of the op.

Spartan IV's eh?

I suspect they'll be on par or just slightly better than the Spartan III's, and still be inferior to the II's.

Namely because the Spartan II's were specially trained and genetically modified from when they were children, alongside recieving lots of "upgrades" in the form of cybernetics according to all the lore.

That would be how I'd do it anyway from a story point as it ensures Master Chief still is the dogs danglies, allows the use of the few remaining II's as near mythical characters, while allowing you to add new characters to expand and continue the story/world.
