Ya, because that comment came before I was blown up for no reason other then just to waste ammo.

Actually, FYI, the guy that killed you didn't even 'waste' any ammo. He killed you with a smartbomb which uses no ammo, just cap. Besides that though, T1 ammo really is pretty darn cheap, just a couple ISK per round; for those of us with hundreds of millions, or even billions, of ISK, ammo is a negligible cost.

Edit: and Amamake isn't a "New player border zone", it's atleast half a dozen jumps from any newbie systems.

Okay so starting form the top...

- It's very likely that you bought cheap ammo in low sec and that right there is your lesson learned, there are ways to filter out low and null sec sell orders but it's your own fault there.
- Autopilot skips all the warning messages, this and the fact that it warps you only to 15km and then makes you travel with normal engines the rest of the way are reason to NOT use it unless you aren't at the keyboard and not routed through lowsec.

- I think you miss-understand the 'zoning' as you put it. If you only pick "Warp to 0" you will only warp to a gate, not jump through it. the Jump button will auto jump (even without autopilot). When you appear on the other side you will have a cloak that is maintained for 30 seconds provided you don't move. Since you were on autopilot it moved, you lost cloak, and they popped you.

- I would like to reiterate that NONE of the tutorials FORCE you to goto low sec, you went there cause of something you did.
- It is very much possible to get LOTS of affordable things in highsec, but almost the entire market is player run. There is inevitably going to be some cheaper stuff in low sec since people don't go there as often and demand is lower. It is also often to lure in new players like you.

Almost every thing you mentioned was a fault on your part, not the game's. You assumed that the game wouldn't let you die or lead you astray and it doesn't care. You let your guard down and didn't check things thoroughly enough.

That said you most likely didn't loose very much in the grand scheme of things and I wouldn't mind helping you along further from this point with knowledge and a little bit of change here or there. Usually, though, I'm of the school of thought "Give a man a fish and he's fed for a day, teach a man to fish and you've fed him for life" and so I'd prefer to teach you than to give you =D

I am backing out of this before it turns into a flame war which is not (as angry as it was) what I was going for when I made the post. Thanks for the replies.

@ Xer. I agree, but we both know that was not an attempt to teach a man to fish, it was not for profit, and it was not pvp. That was the guy who beats his wife and kids when he has a bad day, the kid who was picked on back in school (if he is old enough to be out yet), and the player who was attacked when he was new and now wants to feel like he has power over others. There is no skill sitting on the side of the road squishing ants as they leave the ant hole.

In the end as this game ages, it will be the players who define its path to the future. The devs can add all the content in the world, but if no one wants to play with its players it will die just like every other community ostracizes new members. It doesn't have to be a happy squishy place or even a fair fight, but when its at the point where elitists spawn camp new player zones, its all down hill. * I will let the growing decrease in player population over the next few years do the rest of the talking. Kind of like the real world; its an amazing place accept for the people who live here.

FYI I know I am not the first to call you on this one too. I am probably more understanding (and accepting) of the ruthless nature of the game environment then most people too, which is why when I say that when it gets to the point where it is now, its ruining the ecosystem. Your game (the serious players), your call. I am just along for the ride.

That's the funny thing though. You keep "forecasting" a death of the game over the fact that people can kill you like they did today and other similar things (like legal scamming), but the fact of the matter is, this game has seen constant growth every year ever since it was released in 2003 and these kinds of mechanics have always been there, newbs have always been just as vulnerable was you were, in fact moreso then you are today.

And another thing that makes you VERY easy to flame is the way you keep stereotyping the people that killed you. A lot of the guys that play this game are people in a professional career, college students, or just people with families and kids; this is a game that has a bit higher age demographic then most other MMOs. With that comes a slightly higher level of maturity. Yes of course you'll still have the crowd of guys that go "lol nub" but I swear every other story I heard of a newb getting blown up in low sec results in the newb hitting it off with his attackers and making friends out of them, sometimes even joining them. You'll see that overall there is a much higher sense of sportsmanship around. For instance the tradition of both parties leaving a "gf" (good fight) in local after a battle.

When people kill you in EVE it could be for several reasons, maybe they were bored and wanted something to shoot, maybe they treat it like a sport and every kill is a higher score, and usually you'll find that maybe they own the space and are trying to keep it secure.

"Well then why kill a newb?! I'm no threat!"
Oh yes you are. This game obviously supports multiple character as you should tell by the 3 slots on your first login. Aside form that you can also have as many account as you can afford to subscribe. This means it is not uncommon for people to make brand new alt characters and using them to infiltrate their enemies both corporately and physically. When it comes to home defense, every character, young or old, is a threat.

Everything bad that happens to you in EVE is your own fault. Accept it. Learn from it, and move on.

Don't get emotionally attached to ships. They are just tools, and everything in EVE is replaceable with ISK.

Don't pilot what you can't afford to lose and replace. If you do, well there is always a rookie ship to start again with (tip: it can carry one light drone, which can make a huge difference). I recommend always having a backup ship ready to go, because stuff happens, and you may not want to return to using a rookie ship!

If you have the mindset where you are always a victim, you will never enjoy EVE.

That's a fairly fancy way to say: "blunt insults that would get you in front of a judge in any decent country on the planet".
