Upgraded to WIndows 7... Now Eve no work..

This might sound stupid but I had problems with folder permissions when I reinstalled Windows 7 after an upgrade. To solve it I ended up just renaming the computer this then reset all the permissions when I restarted the computer. The problem seems to come from partitions that were in place before the installation of 7.

If you don’t know how this is one (of many) ways to do it.
Click ‘start’
Right click the ‘computer’ line on the right menu
Select and click ‘Properties’
Look down the right side of the window and click ‘Change Settings’
Click [Change …] and then type in a new name for your computer.
Save your work and restart the computer.

Bit of a long shot but might work for you as well.

Linux? Pff…

Anyway, the principle is the same — you just have to do it in a less efficient way.

But I already took ownership of all the files in the eve directory.

Ownership, yes, but did you grant yourself permissions to them as well?
Also, are you sure it's the EVE directory that is messing with you and not parts of the EVE cache (in your personal temp folder… which may have been transferred and repopulated as well depending on how you upgraded).

if you copied your entire eve folder over from an old windows NTFS partition, that could be causing the issues. you should consider a -complete- fresh install: Download the full installer.

to me it sounds like a Database problem, not a filesystem permissions problem

even if you uninstall eve it might not have emptied out the cache... Try manually deleting the eve cache files

Quote:

Windows 7: %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\

Or try running the LogServer.exe (located in eve folder) before you start eve, it might reveal something

Win7 pro; is very stable running 3 EVE clients, however that is with a clean install using a retail ver. In the past I have found that Windows can be a royal pain in the ass if go the upgrade route. I know its cheaper but the problems it can give the user can be more than its worth. I would recommend that if you have go the upgrade route that you do a clean install of the existing opperating system first add no other aplicationsat this stage, then run the upgrade then apply all updates that are relevent then reinstall your apps. good luck...

Even if you get the upgrade version, you can do clean installs. Big smile One of the install options.
