In terms of making ISK by blowing stuff up, a faction fit CNR will still give you decent returns through L4 missions. You'll realise about 20-40M ISK in bounties and agent rewards per hour, depending on missions, how OCD you are with counting missiles, and attentiveness.

The best ISK in terms of PvE is running incursions. If you join BTL Pub you'll find people who will take you into Assault and HQ sites if you have the time to read the documentation. There are not many Vanguard fleets who will take a CNR, because most Vanguard fleets are more concerned about ISK/hr than being social or making friends.

The best ISK in terms of blowing stuff up always will be blowing up officer-fit CNRs. For that, check out the ninja salvaging guide. Since you're returning after a break, it might be worth considering a change in play style. Kick it up a notch :)
