Mittens the Chairman: Just to push a broom in CSM7?

This is a quick study at the attitude of the current CSM Chairman with regards to his role and how he see's his purpose to be for what would be a return to CSM7. I want to make a distinction that this is purely a look at the current CSM Chairman, the Mittani and are not views reflecting the entire CSM.

From what it appears the Mittani would see his future purpose as more of a caretaker role than an active and visionary directive for EvE issues:

The Mittani wrote:
I do expect CSM7 to be a lot easier than CSM6 ........ Ideally I'll be able to settle into something of a "caretaker" role......

When you consider that his purpose is "supposed" to be to take forward player ideas and represent the player concerns how he can expect to do this with a non-progressive attitude mystifies me. There are numerous outstanding things to be done and considered in order for EvE to be a better experience. It is simply contemptable that he thinks he can put his "feet up" for CSM7.

If you look at the Mittani's manifesto, he has a long list of things he won't do. Which case and point is pretty much his stance or his whole campaign stratergy. Thus he has already got a "letter from parents to give to teacher" about what he is excused from doing. But there is no real content as to identify what he does actually stand for.

Most of his manifesto seems to be just trying to win the PvP vote as he see's this as a popular platform to act smug about and think to claim as his own. Yet he forgets that other candidates have an equal interest in this area and could easily represent PvP interests. Some of whom have more active campaigns on the upcoming expansion content and have been debating and discussing it actively with players and as a result will likely be more valuable to the next term of EvE as CSM.

So don't be fooled that if you don't support the Mittani that others CSM candidates wont be there to help support these interests. If anything it appears they will be at more dedicated to EvE's potential.

Recently the Mittani has been seen to be absent possibly lost from campaigning for nearly a week. Though you could argue this is a good thing, as when asked about issues his responce is to praise fanboi support for his own selfish interests or debunk/dismiss anyone who opposes them. This lack of respect is not unusual though:

The Mittani wrote:
If any of you trust a politician, I don't know what to tell you. Try not to drown in a puddle of rain?

The luxury of my popularity is that I don't have to bother lying to my voters about who and what I am. You get exactly what you voted for: a manipulative sadist who makes no apologies for who or what he is.

&

Politics is about power and conflict. Some lie about it. I don't have to

&

Every CSM represents their own constituents. Some have delusions about 'representing everyone'. I do not.

I believe the reason why the Mittani feels he can shirk his responsibilities is that he sees he is somehow providing what the players want. Nothing other CSM candidates can in fact achieve or offer more to the table as a result of their extra work they have identified to the playerbase and of course could still be a more concientious null sec candidate, if concerned about areas.

If we take the new tier 3 BCs introduced by CCP we can see in the CSM minutes prior to their launch that there is in fact no mention of the CSM steering efforts towards this feature and given the impact it has made in restoring faith in CCP and how it would support the move to FiS, you'd expect to see the CSM to have been dancing all over it in the minutes in preperation for its launch, even if it was a teaser. Of course the Mittani will simply try to now claim it towards his so called achievements as opposed to where the credit really lies, with CCP.

The Mittani rides the coattails of CCP and other CSM, in this way, taking credit for various issues. And whilst the CSM minutes don't clearly identify stances (due to drama avoidance) we can see that the Mittani is not in fact creditable to "all" the work:

The Mittani wrote:
I mostly delegated discussion of hybrid issues to the CSM6 hybrid experts, Prometheus Exenthal and White Tree. I'm a nullsec sovwar guy, whether rails need a 10 percent buff and a 12 percent grid decrease is really too micro for me. I'd just mess things up.

I'm pretty happy with what Tallest has posted in his hybrid blog.

&

"delegate WH issues to Two Step"

voila

And despite these points and the apparent view to "kick back", he has the audacity to use a campaign slogan of "Our work is not yet done". I can only assume that this "Our" represents a certain demographic of interest.

According to what the Mittani would like to have you think; the redirection of CCP due to Incarna had nothing to do in terms of player demonstrations or other more commercial influences like cancelled subs, even though CCP have attributed their U-turn on incarna to player interest. Or that the CSM used it for argument in the emergency summit:

CSM minutes wrote:
The second leg of the session involved showing the CSM how Incarna was received in terms of subscriber numbers and trends as well as informing them of other business and analytics metrics.

In fact Mittens thinks that the best work is in fact carried out in Icelandic bars where, if your gullible enough to believe, the development of EvE is decided by him "whispering in the ear" of CCP staff.

So before you tick your box for CSM7, ask yourself what kind of candidate you want, and wether in fact someone else could better represent your interests (including nefarious activities) and yet not be an overhead or detriment to the future of EvE or player/CSM/CCP relations.

Ask yourself, "do I want an Ambassador or a Janitor as chaiman of CSM7?"

Oh look, he rears his head.

OP pretty much nailed it. Should add though that many see teh CSM as an elite social club whose members purpose is to advance their own alliance goals and buddy up with CCP employees. I say whizz on them allLol

The fact that some people cannot handle honesty is always a bit troubling. People shouldn't worry about whether or not Mittens is going to represent his constituents: of course he is. The question is, are his constituents' interests aligned with yours? Forget 0.0 politics for a minute: space is temporary and yadda-yadda. Just look at the game mechanic changes endorsed by Mittens (Technetium rebalance, ship iteration, new player experience improvement, "Farms and Fields", iteration of Faction Warfare, etc.), and decide if you'd like the next CSM to push that agenda or not.

For those of you sad about the re-direction away from Space Barbies, I'm sorry: Mittens is not your man.

For those of you convinced that a CSM should be all things to all people, I'm sorry, you need to--in the words of Lord British--"experience more!".

For those of you happy with Crucible, you should acknowledge that this CSM, under Mittens' leadership, was immensely influential in making this happen (I'm sorry: CCP devs clearly weren't bothering to read EN24, so I don't think it had much influence). If you liked Crucible, and want CCP to continue in that direction, we should have a similar CSM, and one with Mittens at the helm. Or in the capsule. Or whatever.

Fix POSes.  Every player should want one (even if all players can't have one).

And to ensure things are not taken out of context by remarks made and to keep the thread relevant to who it is discussing:

I'm confused. Do the authors of these threads think they're having a negative effect on The Mittani's popularity?

In any case, this public obsession with The Mittani is becoming a bit disturbing. I'm afraid his and DBRB's combined smug will soon reach a critical mass, ending the world as we know it.

Maybe the authors prefer to grow out his smugness, like an overblown balloon. Then destroy eveyone when it pops. Maybe its a victory they prefer.

I have a theory that this was actually writtens by Mittens himself, to show another example of how delusional his opponents are.

I don't know what to think! Can one of the commissars tell me what I should be thinking about this?

I appreciate it when cracks are showing.

Because, you see, I am gay.

I thought the Mittani commissared them for something?

And lack of ability to notice self-deprecating irony/sarcasm as well.

But then lack of brains and lack of sense of humour often go together.

E: Most goons are still idiots, by the way--with certain delightful exceptions (all six of them! No Mittani isn't one, just so we're clear.), but I've never seen a more grotesque example of group-think anywhere in EVE than them.
