Jumping from system to system - Load Lag

With just one client loaded, I was able to do multiple jumps over 2 hours without any problem. With two accounts going for 2 hours, I had system loading lag that got worse over time.

What I don't understand is if the clock is updated every ten minutes, why would the drift accelerates over time? It might start out at 20-30 seconds, but after 3-4 hours it could be 120+ seconds.

Once major clock drifting starts, the only way to stop it is to restart the affected client.

Dear Habakuk,

I used the tool proposed by Jal Garai (timesynctool) to keep track of how much my clock drifts:

- Let Windows XP run idle on desktop overnight: no clock drift (like zero to 20 ms per 15 Minutes)
- Run Eve idling and docked in Jita in my highsec alt for several hours: no clock drift
- Gate jumping in my highsec alt to Torrinos and back: no clock drift
- Exiting Eve and starting communications tools (Teamspeak, Mumble) for some time: no clock drift
- Logging in Eve in my main and idling in station: no clock drift
- Fleeting up (still idling in station): clock starts to drift immediately by several seconds per minute (!)
(I can check that drift starts the second I join fleet because timesynctool allows manual update and logs them)
- Docked or not docked, fighting or idling does not matter, drift continues
- Defleeting does not stop drift (its not reverseable), only relogging stops it
- Didnt find any other software/game other than "Eve in Fleet" that starts clock drift

Encounter the same jump lag problems as before.
Manually resyncing every few seconds and/or immediately before/after jumping does not help.
Randomly on some gates there is no lag.
Jump bridges are far worse (massive lag every time).
Currently, I am relogging after most every gate and driving FCs insane.
May I use the word "unplayable"?

Hope you get this fixed soon!
Cheers, Arch

At present, the soft time correction limits itself to correcting at a rate of 2% normal time, meaning it will only speed up or slow down by 2% in order to correct the problem. This is to prevent jerking the clock around too much which would be an unpleasant experience for all involved.

Upshot is, if your clock is regularly drifting more than 12 seconds every 10 minutes, the error will accumulate.

We're probably going to up that limit a bit soon.

Please fix this soon.
The bug is driving me crazy.

I was experiencing 2 min lag after EACH jump! This is a huge pain for pvp pilots. Now I am angry.
I don't feel this game is playable anymore!!Sad

A cloaky transport of my alt died because of this, and CCP refused to reimburse me, meh.

Please, please, please fix this soon.Cry

Switching from Windows XP to Windows 7 solved the problem for me.
Three hours of wild gate and bridge jumping with zero lag in a
150+ man gang ammounted to 79ms clock drift only in total.
Fingers crossed it stays that way. However, would be nice to see
the problem fixed for other people as well and to be able to go back
to Windows XP and not need a second OS just to play Eve without lag...

It appears that being in a busy system causes my system clock to lag by about 2 seconds every minute. Specifically, in Jita it does lag, while in an almost empty system (2 pilots) it did not appear to lag. Other resource-intensive games (Starcraft 2, specifically) did not appear to cause clock lag.

I have also had this problem, tested my system clock drift and it seems to be hovering between 30 and 40 seconds every 15 minutes. Having jumps take upwards 3-4 minutes does makes the game unplayable from a PvP standpoint.

I would like to add that I'm running windows 7 64 and reinstalling hasn't done anything to fix this. I'd also add that it seems to have gotten worse in recent patching, at one point editing the registry to update the clock more often near fixed this. Now its worse than ever.

is there anything a player can do to its system to try and fix this problem manually?
If i upgrade my OS from WinXP to win7 32 will this probably fix my problem as someone above already mentioned, or is this deeper than this?

what date is ccp going to try and patch this?

This is not a crash issue but more of a desynch one so you shouldn't be surprised that crash fixes doesn't fix this.

When will you fix this, CCP?
It has been two months.

Have you identified where the problem is?
Are you guys working on it yet?
We need answers!

bug report ID 129061 sent.

I tried some of the solutions some users already proposed (time sync tool, registry edit+strat2).Nothing of the above solved the issue for me.Even when i set the time resync to 10-15mins the delay seemed to grow higher as time spent playing.I found a constelation change jump gate, in high sec on another account, and used this to collect data with the logserver for the bug report. There was delay in every single jump when i was using that constellation gate. There wasnt any delay happening in most of the gate jumps through the same constellation.

I havent tried the BIOS battery solution yet(this is kinda hard since ill need to remove the graphics card first) or the change of OS.
So is this issue due to the different timing of eve server and our clock? If so sync our clock to eve server will resolve the issue? And if thats the solution then, is there any eve server address to do so with time sync tool?
This is happening for 2 weeks now(since 15/2 patch or so) and if it continues that way, then i cant play the game.

The interesting thing is, that this issue is not affecting everyone - it's quite selective, which is what makes it interesting and most definitely puzzling for CCP. It almost screams that it must be client-side as a result, but given that none of us had issues prior to the Crucible patch(es) in December 2011, it simply cannot be the case.

As mentioned, since adding the time-sync tool and with the patch that addressed the clock-drift, I have not encountered any jump-lag issues. There is however, still a delay and some hesitation on my system when a new system is loading, which gets to about 100-200ms before it fixes itself. It's quite playable and especially so given that I used to have to wait 2mins+ before the patch.

I would still like to know what is causing this issue however - so please CCP keep us updated.
