Smaller denomination PLEX?

Do PLEX really have to be 30 days? Why not allow them to be broken into fractions, and reassembled from fragments if desired?

Apparently the average wallet holds 499 million ISK, just enough to buy a 30 day one - which means that the average player is completely broke after buying a PLEX. It would be nice to not have to be completely poor one week a month, wouldn't it?

Thoughts?

If you dont want to be poor for a week then do it the old fashioned way and pay for it yourself.

I would rather see a 60-day alternative instead of a smaller amount of days like 10 or 15.

This assumes that all "average" players plex their game time of course as opposed to subscribing to support CCP and using their ISK for other things as a result.

Also by subscribing they are not pressured into activities or decisions either IG or about mechnics as they are not tied to the materialistic values of the plex market so much.

I think it's important to make this distinction.

Let me tell you a story:

Once upon a time, you used to be able to purchase 90 day GTC's on the bazaar. This was before PLEX, even before the "normalization" of CCP's GTC durations to 60 days. A 90 day GTC at the time cost around 500M isk, making 30 days of playtime about 166M isk.

When GTC's were "normalized" to 60 days, guess what happened? The price for 30 days of gametime went up. Now people were paying around 480M for a 60 day GTC at the bazaar, making costs about 240M per 30 days of gametime.

Then plex came out and became the de-facto increment of available game time. Prices went up again, inevitably reaching over 490M isk for 30 days of game time on the open market.

To me it looks like the availability of smaller increments of gametime is the driving force for the ISK price of PLEX in today's economy. So no, based on trending data I've seen through my Eve career, I say pony up and pay for the time they offer and be glad you can get game time for under a billion ISK....

Does using two 30 day PLEX at once not function identically to a 60 day PLEX? You can't use half of a PLEX, however.

It does not assume that the average player supports their activities through PLEX, but those that choose to, which are many, can have difficulty pulling the money together in time.

I'm not proposing the removal of 30 day PLEX, either.

I thought those were called Aurum.

Edit: But it would be nice if CCP opened up the currency exchange. Directly trade ISK for Aurum, Aurum for ISK, and convert Aurum back to a PLEX.

Also between when I used to play and now other prices increased about the same as PLEX. It was 30 days (I believe 60 days had to be bought which provided two 30 day things) for 350M at the time and 650M for a freighter, now it's 30 days for 475M and 900M for the same freighter.

The only possible factor I can see associated with smaller time exchanges that'd cause price inflation is that 90 days is cheaper in real money than 3x30 days.

I don't get why so many people act like you have to pay for the game with PLEX.

If you're too poor to pay for the game with PLEX *or* with real money, then you should probably look into correcting one of those before the other. I'll give you one guess which one that is.

You're comparing apples and oranges. No mineral costs involved in a PLEX, you see.

Or maybe you build yours with materials...

By the way, in 2005 my first Prophecy cost 99M ISK for the hull. This was the market average.

So don't tell me about inflation. **** is cheaper in Eve than it used to be. Period.

I remember seeing megathrons priced at 250M ISK...

and here I thought I was getting a good price when they [90d GTC] were being bought at 350-400m each...

You were. But those were presumably prices being asked before I ever investigated the GTC Bazaar. So I can't speak intelligently about what the prices ran before I first noticed them. Presumably they went up immediately as a reaction to the "normalization."

I seem to recall fractional PLEX being mentioned in the recent past CSM notes.

If I recall correctly, CCP apparently didn't understand why pilots would want it.

I think I'd even purchase 7-day and even 1-day increments to get all my accounts on the same billing date.
