After the recent threads about the latest ban on bots and the Dev promise to explain some of what happen in a soon to be dev blog, I would like to request that a "Tag" System be created, much like the existing ones.

I believe this is shared by most if not all of the community, if this is the case please show your support.

Edit: After giving some thought on this I believe that a Tagging system (much like the pirating and SS system) is a better way to identify the offenders, have made the necessary changes to the topic and OP.

PS: The Dev blog is up btw: http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=9133

Do a forum search for "Name and Shame."

This is a policy CCP has had for eight years. They will not name and shame, period.

Seriously, do you need pompoms? They have teams of lawyers advising them - specifically - to not name and shame.

What do you think they're going to do? Follow the advice of a couple of ninnies who want the names listed in the EULA so they know exactly what's in the sandbox?

Probably not. It doesn't require any thought at all. Hence the reason for all the hubbub, I suppose.

This is precisely where their argument falters in the face of the legions of lawyers.

I can't think of a single company that has ever named the characters or accounts banned for any reason. I wouldn't imagine it s a good policy at all to do so. I wouldn't expect this to happen. Frankly I don't care to even see any of that information. A devblog telling me that they did it is good enough for me. I doubt they would blatantly lie about it.

Even if they did lie about it, you'd still pay to play in one form or another.

Botters will sell bot-plagued characters after their temp ban is up.

If a non-botter buys a character and transfers it to his account, his account is now contaminated.

If CCP refuse (for whatever reason) to publicly mark/flag a character that has been banned at least once for botting activity, the character should be perma-locked to the bot-contaminated account where it was when the ban took place, with permanently biomassing it being the only way to separate it from the account.

That will avoid spreading the plague around.

Name and shame of what? Generic masses of characters specifically made for sole purpose of botting with random generated names?

I like this. If a Character is ever banned (even temp banned) for botting, it should be disallowed from any character transfers. Biomass or keep it, but you cannot sell it.

I think I got into the hall of shame once, but they had to kick me out because apparently, masterbating in the open is not allowed.
