1st scan of the day i uncovered the blood watch escalation i was in a 0.5 high sec area
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Blood_Watch
due to my own ignorance i did not read the bit that said killing the spider drone causes more ras to spawn, guess what i killed 1st :)
and i done it another twice too i was swarmed by rats.
anyway i survived that went into the 2nd room killed everything in there and was very dissapointed with the drop loot, think it was a faction crystal thing and a dark blood tag. i made more in the bounty's. i had about 40-50 wrecks to salvage but gave up after about 15, the pickings from them was also thin.
Is exploration in high sec actually worth the time?

With one exception that I know of (Mul-Zatah Monestary), highsec exploration is a waste of time. If you want goodies, you need to go to low or null.

The ~5-8B ISK I've made from highsec exploration in the last 6 months or so would beg to differ. It just takes patience, and dedication; eventually you find shinies.

I know the gurista 4/10 happens in high Dec and has a chance for decent loot. I believe I picked up a few dead space shield boosters worth a decent amount.

You have to remember it really is all chance based. I've had a faction frigate rat drop a worm bpc while I was mining in a belt. Given that escalations often include faction spawned, you may get lucky too.

Yuppers. And that about matches what I've made.

The chances of great loot are exactly that...a chance. Keep at it and it will happen. You just never know when that Cruor BPC will drop.

I've even had regular .5 belt Rats drop 75,000,000 Faction Mods.

EVE is NOT for instant gratification. Important lesson here in that.

Know what would happen if you found something "good" every time?

That stuff wouldn't be good anymore.

Rarity = value. This is really not rocket science.

Also, watch where you sell Overseer loot. These items are best sold to npc stations such as concord I think. Selling in jita or another market hub nets you less. Selling in any random station, and you could be out of luck. These are one of the few items where npc orders are better than player created orders.

Welp, congrats. That's honestly the best it gets.

The best used to be the Pirate Faction Frigate BPC drops, but they are only about 80-95,000,000 ISK now (were over 100,000,000 awhile back).

If you want better, you must go to Low.

Yep, Pithum C-type Medium Shield Boosters, Pithi A-type Small Shield Boosters and Gistum A-type Invulnerability Fields totally don't drop from hisec exploration sites Blink

Something else to keep in mind, in hisec the competition is pretty fierce for sites. Figure in game theres hundreds of T3 ships in hisec hunting for radar ded and combat sites. So that random chance factor is further complicated by dilution. For my opinion find a hisec pocet somewhere and there will usually be more sites to clear in a given time span. Then again the trick then is getting all of that loot to market.

Just REAL curious what you mean by this. I just.........take it a few jumps to market. No biggie here.

He/She's talking about the risks of carrying a cargohold full of valuable loot through lowsec to market. A manageable risk, but it is slightly more risk than just flying through highsec.
