so, i've got a few questions about them. i did some googling and found the Caldari COSMOS guide on scribd, but not much else.

1. i know that epic arcs are one and done, but can cosmos missions be run often? is it possible to 'farm' them with alts accepting all the missions and then the main doing the sites themselves?
2. as a whole, how difficult are these missions? is it just really time-consuming, or do they require tons of tank, or what?
3. any guides? i've seen some packs that look pretty nice, but they're all pretty expensive. the guides on eve-survival are pretty minimal as well.
4. is there one particular arc or set of cosmos missions that is more lucrative than the rest? i want the iskies, you know =)

i'm a null-sec guy getting sick of ruskies taking all my sites and then logging when i come into system, so i'm looking for something NPC-related to shoot for a while now that ratting is getting boring. thanks in advance for the assist!

i make spreadsheets for pretty cheap. contact me for more info.

I don't believe epic arcs are one and done. I believe you can run them every 3 months.

With 5 accounts and 15 active toons over 3 years I have only seen an Epic Arc offered once, completed it and that's it.

As far as the Cosmos missions are concerned I have two toons that have completed all of them for their race and partner race such as Caldari and Amarr. The missions appear to be equally lucrative per race as expected yet the rewards are massively dominant in standings if you are at a point where ISK doesn't matter much. It's hard to sell a strange faction shield extender or blueprint on Contracts as it seems no one is aware of the fact that those devices exist nor desire them.

As far as the difficulty of the Cosmos missions are concerned, online wikis of them do state that they are more difficult than average yet I did not find that to be so as I always use the power of two and when missioning solo always have two ships and two clients so it's not quite possible for me to know if they were that much more difficult. Nothing stands out as having been more difficult than any other average mission per level. Bring a friend even if it's yourself.

That being said I have never done the L5's, and at that time will just hire support for ISK.

Cosmos are all about raising your faction standings and by doing them I have one toon that has not only personal but Corporation 9.4 standings with Caldari State (& Navy). They are a treasure for topping out.

i've already got a character with cal state up past 8, so likely running these msisions for cal state wouldn't be as worth it as, say, for minmatar, or gallente, right?

do any of the cosmos missions have me killing other major races? because my gallente is approaching the point of no return right about now.

From both the faction standing repair plan and the eve encyclopedia, you should be able to do the epic arcs every 3 months. I have not tested this. I also believe that means complete the arc, then in 3 months time you can talk to the starting agent and get the first mission again.

I really want to know if this is the case or if epics are one and done. I never finished my caldari one.

Confirming the three month timer on epic arcs. Although you will need to note the date of completion because as far as i've found there's nothing in-game visibly keeping track of when the agent(s) will talk to you again.

Oh blimey...

On Epic Arcs:

a) Epic Arcs are repeateable every three months.
b) Epic Arcs never expire. If you've started one you can take a break for however long and come back and finish it. Check your journal for which mission is next.
c) Check your standings to find out when you finished an Epic Arc. Right-click the faction you ran the arc for, select "Show Transactions" and see when you received a standings increase for the final mission in that arc.
d) You did receive a faction standings increase, right? Because that functionality is bugged, so if you didn't get one you must petition it.

On Cosmos:

a) Cosmos agents of a particular level are generally more difficult than regular mission agents of that level.
b) There are no really good guides, except this one which is in German: http://hb3.info/cosmos/. That said, it's pretty self-explanatory; if in doubt, google-translate.
c) Cosmos assignments consist of one or, rather more often, several missions in a chain. The final mission in that chain will give a faction standing increase in addition to the corporate standing increase.
d) Cosmos missions can never be repeated. Ever. If you fail any mission in a particular chain, that chain can never be finished. So before you take on a particular chain, make sure you can finish all the missions in it.
e) Cosmos rewards consist of money, storyline items or blueprints, and standings both corporate and faction.
f) The faction standing increases work just like in normal missions, so there are derived standings gains/hits as applicable.
g) Cosmos storyline items are both expensive to build and crap compared to T2 and often even T1. That's why they are so frickin' expensive if they're even being sold at all. There are some exceptions to this.

^^ he-who-flies is correct. disregard other contrary comments re epic arcs and read / belive he-who-flies.

Specifically, at least seven of the eight epic arcs are repeatable at three monthly intervals ... three months after last completion or fail-quit partway thru. The other (aurora's) I don't know first hand, but it's not likely to worry anyone here.

The arcs are:
1. Aurora's ... part of the noob introductory mission series;
2. Lvl1. Sisters of Eve
3. Lvl3 Angel Sound - Angles pirate epic arc
4. Lvl3 Smash & Grab - Guristas pirate epic arc
5. Lvl4 Amarr
6. Lvl4 Caldari
7. Lvl4 Gallente
8. Lvl4 Minmatar

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

The SoE arc follows the same rules as the rest and provides and easy way to get a single Empire faction standing increase without the associated opposing faction derived standing loss.

All of the arc final standing rewards function that way, not just SoE. Although you will find that some (like the cal and guristas) will give you the chance to loose some faction standing if you want. In most cases you don't have to or the loss is minimal.

If you don't have the standings to the Caldari cosmos there is one easy solution. Google Data Centre agents and worry no more about grinding 6.00 with Caldari state.

HTH

a) Cosmos missions can be more difficult. I lost a Hurricane on one of the Minmatar ones due to a couple of spider drones webbing/scrambling my ship. Often the courier missions will go into low sec - sometimes multiple times.
b) There are good guides available although the reward bpcs given will NOT be as listed. See DeMichaels post above and the Evelopedia. I thoroughly recommend the 'eve-odessa' one for Munmatar Cosmos.
c) Aye final mission will give the major faction increase. Occasionally the earlier ones do too.
d)Preparation. Often better to look up the mission objectives and collect the 'mission keys'before starting the mission/s.There are a few repeatable ones but they are not worth doing.
e)Ditto above. Also Cosmos agents available that give faction ship bpc's in return for tags. But high standings needed.
f)Yes there are derived standings. Doing the 'Thukker' Cosmos missions will give negative Gallente standing hits.If you want to increase Minmatar do Gallente first. If you want Gallente standings higher do Minmatar then Gallente.
g) Hmmm. SOME Cosmos storyline items are better or equivalant to T2 options. All Cosmos items use less CPU/Grid than T2. People tend to try to sell Cosmos BPC's in job lots at ridiculously high prices. Hence they do not get sold. Not really expensive to build but time is involved in acquiring the materials. Skills needed can be a problem though in terms of time to train.

I hope the above is useful to you. Smile

Just go for Akemon's and Michi's if you're in it for the ISK - minmatar has some nice implants too but they're a bit more of a pain. Haven't checked prices recently but used to get 1bil between the two per char in relatively little time if you knew what you were doing and had the standings.
