10 bucks says i will have a workaround within 3 days

Also relating to the actual topic, Just dual boot like everyone else, because, you know what? It works, well

I'd actually put money on there being a workaround before Win 8 goes RTM

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

PS: If anything CCP should drop supporting Mac.
Apple sucks!

I agree. And while they're at it, they should stop supporting windows, because Microsoft sucks. These are well-known facts.

in 2003 about 4-5% of computers surfing the web was Mac or Linux, now it is about 14% with a bullet. It might be a good strategy to plan for the future by making EVE run well on *NIX systems.

I've seen the future. It isn't Linux.

This Linux finality has been going on since Win95. Now they're saying Windows 8. Quite a long time has gone by. Where's that eventual takeover we all heard so much about...for so long?

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

Client uses DirectX, majority of games use DirectX.

Yeah, no.

The reason apple market-share is rising is that people who have zero intention to play games and only use computers to browse youtube and check emails are switching to fondle-slabs.

And linux while is nice in areas is not a home/gaming use desktop OS.

Good thing the activation server is located at 127.0.0.1...... I'll be quiet before getting into details that violate CCP's TOS :)

Aaaaaanyway, who wants windows 8. Remember it's every other Microsoft version that sucks. Windows 7 is pretty good. That means Windows 8 is the one you skip :)

Linux user here, would like to see the client built but not to worried, as it works fine on my PC under wine and ubuntu.

The nature of home computing is changing anyway, windows is unlikely to remain the main and only option soon enough. It will be an interesting debate on here when you avid windows users become the minority as all us PC user will soon be, Its just us linux users will be better prepared for it..

You mean there are other platforms people use for EVE besides windows? WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?!

Xubuntu/Win7 dual boot crew checking in.

Yes, Windows is terrible, but I find dual-booting it to run EVE and Photoshop justifies it's existence. Even Win7 is ok, it's not really suitable for everyday use or anything really serious, glorified XBOX is all it is.

Hi, I have not seen the debate about Linux etc for the last four years. lol

It was usually followed by - I could fix all the Lag issues etc in (insert desired number of minutes) as I have worked in this area of computing for (insert desired number of years) but I just can't be bothered after a hard day at the office.

It is nice to see this old stuff rehashed again.

This is not a signature.

Linux sucks for games : yep

[Linux] has always sucked for games : yep

and [Linux] will always suck for games : what do you use? Tea leaves? Palm reading? Found a reincarnation of Thebes Oracle? Maybe you had a dream?

Nah, I just use that abstract trend-spotting capability built into the human brain. Oh yeah something earth-shattering could happen that will turn linux into the #1 gaming platform.

But...

I doubt it.

Past performance does not guarantee future results. But it can give you a pretty good idea most of the time.

Really interesting considering that I have played eve exclusively on Linux for several years now. Guess I didn't get the memo sorry about that.

Even if that's true, that will be rolled back with a service update after the first month. Like with Vista, major news outlets will come down on this so hard. Too bad Linux as a desktop OS is simply not up to the task. Nothing will change.

Anyway, I pay for the software I use, I have a continuous connection.. let them come down on people expecting a free ride. I could care less.
