Caps and Mineral Compression

I seem to remember a post a while ago that was selling cap kits and associated modules/ammo for uncompressing.
It wasn't the standard 425mm rails, it was something like 3000 425mm rails, 2012 doom torpedoes, it was a list of various ammo's and modules to best suit the ship you were building.

Any ideas?

Thx
Emma

*EDIT*

I thought it was for caps, but I think I've found what I mis-remembered on tentonhammer, it was battleships not capitals Ugh

However if anyone knows of a good mineral compression calculator, I've looked at Bloodtear and it works ok, but it's a bit rough and ready, and I've not got a clue how to do that kind of stuff in excel :)

Give me a shout in game. I can take care of all of this and you don't have to spend anymore for BPO's or BPC's.

I'm confused - how is this better than the actual ore compression blueprints?

Mineral Compression and Ore/Ice Compression are totally different.

Ore/Ice Compression is done using a Rorqual and squashes batches of ore or blocks of ice so they physically take less space.

Mineral Compression is basically building stuff like 425mm Railgun I's which take around 1,400 m3 of minerals to build, but only take up 50m3 of cargo space. Transporting them to their end destination and reprocessing them to get the minerals back.
Normally there is a little waste with this depending on what level ME the blueprint you're building off is, but it's still far more convenient than shipping the raw minerals.
It's normally done into low or nullsec to save shifting huge amounts of trit when building capitals, buy the minerals in high sec, build the guns, and move them as a fraction of the cargo space.

Hope this clears the confusion Smile

Gotcha, I didn't realize that those blueprints could only be used on Rorquals. Even still, wouldn't it still be better to buy compressed ore or raw ore and compress it rather than refining ore, manufacturing stuff, and then reprocessing the modules?

Generally Compressed Ore is very expensive and hard to find in empire, and you've got the same limitations as the normal ores, ie Compressed Veldspar only yields Tritanium etc, so you'd have to source various compressed ores to get a mix.

I don't know how many corps ship compressed ores down from nullsec down to empire to sell, I suspect more is compressed just to help haulage between their mining system and their refinery.

Compressed Ore doesn't reach the same degree of compression as modules.

Compressed dense Veldspar gives you 1318 trit per m3
800mm Repeating Artillery I gives you 2459 trit per m3

The more common 425mm Railgun 1 gives you 2049 trit per m3.

And that's ignoring the other minerals.

Compressed ore is for moving ore to a refinery.

Woo! CSM XI!
