Hello there fellows, I just had a few questions if I could borrow a bit of your time for awhile. You see, after taking a long (read; 9 month) hiatus from Eve, I am back, and CCP has changed around quite a few things. Obviously, with the PI system, they have changed it to be somewhat more or less difficult to turn a profit. Player owned customs office and the like, such things as fuel blocks now... how can I turn a profit?

Right now, I run five planets; one "factory" planet filled up with factories so that I can process and turn the material into something better, and four resource harvesting planets that funnel directly into the factory planet. I also have an additional alt that focuses primarily on getting resources and then contracting them to my main account so that I can continue the chain.

I am primarily producing tier 2 and tier 4 material, and I am wondering if I should shell out for a fuel block blueprint and start trying to create fuel blocks to sell, continue this chain and go all the way up to tier 5 material and sell it, or just sell what I have right now.

Thank you ahead of time for your advice and assistance. Big smile

I just started getting into PI. I was a bit worried when i saw the forum postings about the tax increases and all, but planning it out it can still be quite profitable. I have all but one planet in hi-sec and I am focusing on advanced commodities. I haven't gone beyond that yet. The important part I found was figuring out the minimal movement of materials to avoid import/export taxes. Producing fuel is next on the list to figure out.

My current concern is moving out into low-sec planets and the hassle of customs offices being destroyed. Forking out 100M for a customs office to see it blown to bitty bits is too much risk for the limited reward. I have found quite a few low sec systems where no one has bothered to destroy the inter-bus customs offices. I am surprised the pirate greifer crowd haven't gone around destroying all of these yet.

The Fuel blocks aren't particularly profitable over the cost of the materials that go into them. They were for a month or two after they were introduced, but right now your margins would be super tight. Maybe with perfect skills and a heavily researched BPO?

note that at ME40, you have a perfect BPO (it takes ... like 3 days).

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia
