So, wondering what would be the best setup for grinding lvl5 missions. They got buffed, kinda need an omni-tank as you get all 4 damage types shot at you.

Your thoughts please. Other setups welcome.

If you are going to run L5s for Gal/Min Here's all you need to know . . .

1) Only run missions that can be blitzed (about half the missions)
2) One assault frigate passive armor tanked receiving one large remote armor repair II can tank every missions
3) On average you need to do about 250K damage to clear the missions so at 800 DPS that will take about 5.5 minutes

So one assault frig and one Apoc/Armageddon/Abaddon with enough cap regen to run one large remote repair and the rest gank. Should cost you less than 200 mil for the whole setup.

The battleship needs to stay within remote rep range of the Assault frig so you're stuck with long range ammo (40-60K range). Hence the Amarr battleships.

Bringing a third ship really helps . . . it doesn't need more than 500K spell points. Just enough to run an Exequror. That allows you to free up your DPS ship to run blasters/MWD which obviously puts out a lot more DPS

Active tanked tengu with lots of cap regen works for the majority of missions you get doing lvl5s for Caldari, just decline the few that have 5+ neut towers (2 missions iirc). I see 90 GJ/s quoted for neut tower in here...it is only 40GJ/s for nueot tower IIIs. Fit below has enough cap regen to permarun the shield booster and ab while being nueting by 3 x neut tower III...pulse booster vs 4x tower,, you can even swap to more cap recharge. Use covert sub is ok too...use him for scout and bring the alt in whatever for dps (stealth bomber for busy hostile area, CNR or mach for good dps). LVL5s are just like lvl4s re:damage type, you only need omnitank for specific faction like angel, drone etc.

I suppose that *would* work.

But why would someone spend 3 billion (1.5 Billion per ship) to do less than damage than a 200 million fit?

Why would you fit 2 ships to tank when you only need 1? I use 1 tengu fit (more like 350dps with fury loaded) to tank then bring in 2 x gank fit CNRs/Machs.

Better than use a assault frig who can't help clear mission except kill a few frigs.

edit: yes I could use a differently tanked tengu with RR on the bs...but then I wouldn't be able to fit cloaks on all my ships and be able to move around near invunerable with mwd + cloak trick, etc.
