Take comfort that its death undoubtedly created some laughter. P

A valuable lesson no doubt, but there are mechanics to prevent this by the way. There is a warning message that pops up when your target cannot be shot freely to prevent such things from happening, maybe you have disabled it. If you press esc and go to 'reset settings', you can see all of the warning messages you have disabled and re-enable them from that menu.

i just locked an open door.. strange, yet symbolically compelling.

Yep, thoses annoying little warning boxes... Ignoring them is a quick way to get CONCORD on grid...

Not that your around long enough to notice all their shiny ships :)

There is no such thing as a fair fight...

If your fighting fair you have automatically put yourself at a disadvantage.

Hehe, haven't done that. But I'll give you the opposite as a bonus.
Don't attack carebears on low sec gates in a Rifter.

I did that too, after like 2 days of my life in EVE. I wanted to help my corpmate, who was attacked by a "yellow guy". It turned out my corpmate did something wrong and that's why he was attacked. Then I didn't know I was shot down by station sentry gun and I was shocked by that guy's firepower (he was in a frigate, I was in a destroyer). But no biggie. "Yellow guy" and me are now EVE friends and I laugh when I remember that situation. I bet he's laughing too, but louder. It's a good lesson and now I know what CONCORD is capable of. Though, I must say, it was very entertaining.

Been living in null-sec the last year or so and came back to empire to help a friend of my out with the SoE Epic Arc as he just joined EVE Online and was kind of stuck.

BTW, that 2nd too last mission isn't actually that hard when you do it in a T2 fitted Abaddon P.

But I forgot that the quickwarp (aka tripple web someone) doesn't work in high-sec as it does in null-sec.
In high-sec you have to be in same corp to be able to do that, not in different corps.

So my test Apoc went from shiny gold ship to useless space junk very very quickly.

Lesson learned, thank you CONCORD for reminding me that I should never auto-accept pop ups Lol

Though I'm sure some will object as it is a matter of personal taste...

I have outlaws on my overview displaying with a flashing yellow background. I don't have low security rating enabled on the overview, which by default is a solid yellow background, as I find it really isn't that useful to me (as many ill intentioned people as good have a low security rating).

I've also re-arranged my overview priorities so the outlaw is below anyone in the same fleet or with positive standing, and above anyone with low standing or no standing. I also set a white background for neutral standing, because if I went to the trouble of setting neutral standing on them, it is worth noting that on the overview.

At least you were in a manticore and not an osprey.

You got that part right Cool

If you see that attack warning in highsec, it means you're either definitely going to incur the wrath of CONCORD or you're trying to activate a smartbomb. The latter of course should be well-known to the pilot, leaving the former rather easy to determine.
