It's the Providence.

If you can run Eve with max settings you'll see why when you fly it. P

Frigate: Tristan

Looks like a Flying Japanese Fighting Robot. I was severely disappointed when I discovered that it can't fly up to other ships and punch them.

Destroyer: Thrasher

Looks like the ideal patrol ship with it's spotlight and I like how it's the only symmetrical destroyer

Cruiser: Omen

It just looks amazing overall. The appendage on one side makes it even better as without it the ship seems incomplete but with both on each side it just looks bulky and unbalanced.

T3 Cruiser: Tengu

I just love the sleek smooth surfaces on this thing. Paired with the slopes on the side (and front with CPU) make it look like it can take a hit too as it reminds me of sloped armor on tanks.

Battlecruiser: Hurricane

Looks like a Star Destroyer only with solar panels and the small amount of windows make it look ready for battle

Battleship: Megathron

Looks like a spaceship right out of the 50s.

Carrier: Chimera

Intimidating and cool looking.

Super Carrier: Nyx

Now this looks like an actual carrier! With the runway down the center and it's shape in general makes it look like it's ready for more than just launching ships.

Dreadnaught:

Revelation only because the others look terrible

Titan: Leviathan

The Avatar looks like a mushroom, the Erebus looks like it's flying backwards, and the Ragnorak just looks like a hodgepodge of random ship parts. So by default the Leviathan wins.

Oh yeah, and there IS a Domi variant that I would actually be glad to own and fly and constantly admire:
That Domi Rogue Drone thingwith the rustling insect legs underneath. Gave me the creeps, the good creeps though!

I like the choice of the Dominix as the drone Battleship. The Dominix has been around for hundreds of years since the Cal / Gal War that split the Federation. It is still being manufactured and older models upgraded to meet new technology.

You can just imagine that over the Centuries so many of them have probably been decommissioned and like Ghost Yards full of WWII / Cold War Destroyers, Submarines, Cruisers and Fighter Planes, Bombers, Transport these outdated Ships have been sitting frozen in Space striped of Power, Weapons, Technology in pristine conditions. Sitting in scrap yard by the thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands or maybe even millions by the number of ships seen in this game just abandoned. In the Rogue Drone Storyline Missions that tell their origins the original Experiment Model was an old Dominix.

I used to imagine that not only do they build their own Dominix Models but that they may have early on raided Scrap Yards and Backwater Military Facilities infesting and stealing them in massive quantities giving the Drones the power to fend off the initial Gallente counter attacks. Just adding Sensors, Engines, Shields and Weapons to bring them up to basic standards forgoing EWAR and Repair present on most other NPC Ships. Meanwhile using Scrap Medal and Salvage to construct a fleet of Smaller Cruiser and Frigates in their cobbled together Drone Hives.

I really think that the Dominix was a very well thought out choice. Props to the Dev who came up with it.

Dominix looks kind of like someone was inspired by the hull of a galleon out of the 1600s. It's as if one of those hulls was modified by cutting out the middle and sticking together the front and rear. Not my favorite looking ship, but it's quite the original.

I like it because most of the other Ships in EVE are streamlined to a singular role. The Dominix looks like and is shown in the Stats to seem like anything but. A good sized array of weapons, a large fighter bay, thick Armor, lows and mids for multirole from EWAR, Tackle, Damage, Drone Module Support, Neutralizers, Remote Reps and Drone Range Mods all give it a well deserved reputation as the Multirole Battleship. The more Bulky Design makes it seemingly capable of carrying Drop Ships and loads of Vehicles with lots of room for a ground contingent of Troops.

It seems like the kind of Main Line Warship that would be created and used by the Gallente Navy back when they were just starting out with a real Space Force and could not afford to fill fleets dedicated roles like Logistics, Damage, Drone Support, EWAR, Troop Transports, Bombardment Ships and so on. So they built one to handle all of that, a Battlestar if you would. Not caring about aesthetic over functionality, something a Big Space Whale with lots of room for everything you need in a big thick Armor Shell could handle.

My absolute favourite ship in EvE is the Imperial Navy Omen. As others above have said for their reason(s) , it was the ship that brought me to this game. Love it, hope they don't ruin it with v3 What?

A ship currently not in the game that would change that would be a Khanid Innovation Abaddon. It's been spoken about to death and always will be until CCP clue up and win back a lot of 'likes' by putting it in the game.

I rather like the look of the Hyperion myself... I get the feeling I'm in the minority here, but it looks damned gorgeous. A ship that ever since I've first looked at Eve Online, I've dreamed of piloting...

...so of course I made an Amarr character instead. (Lasers seemed like a good idea at the time!)

You should write some fan fiction for the Eve site! I'm pretty sure anyone can contribute.

As for my favorite ships, I'd have to say Hyperion, Megathron, Dominix, Maelstrom, Abaddon, Rokh, Widow, Vigilant.

Funny you should mention that. I am pretty sure I will get around to it soon.

I already started on the first chapter. It is about an Ammatar Capsuleer who has joined the 22nd Imperial Crusade. He is just learning that he is effectively Immortal after an accident and struggles to cope with his new identity now that he can look like anyone and do anything with little consequences. Everything he was is now changeable in a World with no rules and being a member of the Crusade is his connection to his home land. With a broader view come struggles with his Faith at the treatment of the Minmatar he fights and whose ancestry he shares while playing War and Politics on a grander scale then he could imagine as a simple kid from a backwater region.

He encounters Piracy, Drones, Null Sec Politics and the General hustle of a now completely open Universe he has just discovered. I really want to get into the idea him loosing himself and who he because who would be the same after the Money, Power and Immortality of Capsuleer life. How do you hold on to what is important in a strict Religious upbringing when you become the God.

When I make headway I will EVE Mail you a link to it. I have some pretty cool Ship Fights for all your Pew Pew needs gamed out as well. I hope I do well with this, it is the first thing I have planned to write. It is going to be above 40k Words and at least 12 Chapters so light novel length.

The hyperion.

One big ***** tipped with blasters on either end, and if you look at it directly it looks like a beautiful gothic cross of your coming end.

And the Thorax.

To sate both phallic implications, and it just says 'cruiser' to me, a streamlined ship with blasters and speed combinations. Win win.

Not to mention the thorax was what got me into this game, and the hyperion being the first ship i've ever seen ingame out of the station dock.

Small correction: The only tech 1 Battleship with less base armor is the Scorpion.

For me the best is the Nighthawk.

The Megathron looks like a real Battleship. Many frigate hulls have great shapes: Merlin, Incursus, Punisher, Maulus, and the Rifter. While the fatman of eve looks like a robot ..

I hate them and I love them: Caldari ships. Even in moments when I should really fly other stuff to have 'the best tool for the job' I have this irrational tendency to pick a Caldari hull.

They are dark, subtle and cool. Especially after V3 - all T1 hulls look much darker and less light grey now. I really like how Caldari ships almost disappear in a dark area of space.

Unfortunately I don't really like almost all T2 variants. Kaalakiota is ok (was better before!) but Ishukone and Lai Dai are way too golden and shiny imho What?

No correction needed. Back then it was the only Tech 1 Battleship that currently existed so you can not really compare it to the others. What is more the For a Multirole Warship I would say they probably considered its Armor more then sufficient.

What is more it has the exact same amount Armor as the current Typhoon only being beaten out by the Armageddon which as stated did not exist and is not Multirole. With few mids and a lot of lows it is obviously designed to be tank and gank with little EWAR and a much narrower Drone Defense.

Just had to say how much I hate the look of the Thrasher because I know everyone cares about my opinion. It looks like a damned fish to me, especially when it's doing ****** bumpy fishtailing around acceleration gates that it shouldn't be bumping into on warp in, but this has been a feature for as long as I remember, so I guess it's working as intended. I like when my ships look like broken shopping carts, not when they handle like it. Otherwise, completely dig the rust bucket Minmatar aesthetic. Props to the Machariel designer for fusing the Gallente dual hull theme with the "we finish fights, not ships" Minmatar theme.
