Mining command links

Google and other searches haven't offered any real answer as yet. I'm finding the command links distinctly underwhelming and stupidly I didn't do the maths before hand. I'm using the cycle time one atm as capacitor doesn't seem to be an issue and neither does range, I just move the orca and miners a few km's while mining out the last few rocks around me.

This leaves the cycle time link which, assuming my maths is correct, saves me about 4mins on the time it takes to fill an Orca using two Retrievers, a stop gap on the way to Hulks.

I can only assume I'm doing something wrong here?

The cycle time Link is the useful one.

It makes a HUGE difference in cycle time.

Better results in a Hulk with Modulated Strippers II when you get those.

You won't be crying then.......

You want to have Hulks. And range do matters. Also T2...

One can cope with Range and Cap in a variety of ways.

Getting that cycle time down is critical....for one's sanity.

Play around with setups in EVE IPH's mining tab. All your information is there.

Mind links are a huge bonus with the right skills.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't entirely convinced by the eft numbers but I'll keep the training going although I doubt I'll be bothered to take mining director to 5 as it's something I'm skilling for as another option to my gameplay.

Off the start the links don't seem very useful but after some skills they are excellent.
Warfare link specialist increases effects by 10% per level
Mining director increases effects by 100% per level after level 1
that translates to the T1 laser optimization -15% to cycle time + ship bbonuses
T1 Laser field enhancement +33.75% to range + ship bonuses
T2 laser optimization -18.75% to cycle time + ship bonuses
T2 laser field enhancement +42.1875% to range + ship bonuses

The capacitor link wont be of much use in high sec.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

Seriously. I have yet to even encounter its usage by anyone.

I've used it with newbies ... but then again, they're running normal mining lasers, and can barely hold cap with a 60 sec cycle Bear

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

True, this.

But I for one AIN'T sacrificing an Orca High-slot for noobs.

The skills will all add up if you put the time into them but the biggest increase you will see is from the mining foreman mindlink implant. My orca pilot has perfect skills, T2 links, and implant. This gives me a 121 second cycle time and 25.9km range with T2 strippers. (Hrmm, can go in so many directions with this) :)

You can easily make 60-70m/hour with 3 hulks these days.

Mining Foreman Mindlink is 745,000,000 atm Shocked

Glad I got mine 18 months ago at 92,000,000.

WOW.

Don't underestimate the range link. The more rocks you can hit with out moving, the higher your m3/hr is. In a big fleet that can add up to a lot of isk.
