Hey guys,

I've been doing some shopping lately in the Eve store and picked up a deck of the Eve playing cards. What say we have an afternoon of Eve Online Texas Hold 'Em around my place on the 24th?

We'll keep it modest - $5 (or the equivalent in ISK/ships/other in-game loot) buy-in, winner takes all. Assuming we play 3 games that means that even if you have no idea what you're doing and get absolutely fleeced you'll still only be paying $15 for an afternoon of entertainment with your fellow Eve-playing nerds, so don't think not knowing how to play counts you out! Besides, you can pick it up in about 4 hands so don't let lack of experience deter you!

Let's say 12pm meet up at the Goodwood Park Hotel for lunch and a drink or two, then back to my place for poker from 1.30pm and then from 5pm until late anyone who wants to BYO laptop we'll all hop online and roam like we did the other weekend for sh*ts & giggles. Den, Substance and I had a ball fleeting up and heading down to the New Eden system for photo op in front of the anomaly. Eve tourism FTW.

If you're not down for lunch then just show up for the poker. If you're not keen on poker then just come for the roam. Bottom line - just show up whenever suits you and join in what we're doing at the time!

Sounds like a great idea, I'll be there. Enjoyed the roam last time too.

Never played Poker with Eve cards before, but at a guess Titan's = Ace's, etc..

Sad as it might sound, I probably can't afford $15. Being an unemployed student sucks.

Well by my reckoning, based on current PLEX values $5 is about 90,000,000 ISK. If you're cash-poor I'd be willing to let you wager in-game ISK as IRL poker stakes. Hell the $5 is just a token amount so that we're not playing for nothing. We could wager anything - ships, ISK, faction mods, exotic dancers. Oh the possibilities!

Let's proceed on the understanding then that every game of poker we play will be worth roughly $5 whether it be in hard IRL cash, imaginary spaceships or internet Monopoly money. We can work out the details later.

Yep, and each race has it's own suit - Caldari = Spades, Amarr = Diamonds, Gallente = Clubs, Minmater = Hearts. The cards are actually pretty high quality with good slip. Much better than I expected.

Fo realz, but I've linked it in the Adelaide Crew MOTD and sent out a mass-email to all the Adelaide based Eve players I know so all the bases are pretty much covered. TBH we'd probably only want 2 or 3 more people anyway - I couldn't squeeze much more than that around my dining table. :)

The lunch portion is definitely the more the merrier, tho!
