Non-illegal use of Macros?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.. Never been on EVE forums before.
Also sorry if this doesn't make sense.. I'm often terrible at putting words to my thoughts... Anyways:

I am aware that the use of macros or bots to gain an edge over other players, or to allow you to play the game without putting in the time yourself, is not allowed in EVE, nor would I ever want to do that. However I was wondering if it is actually okay/easily possible to use them purely to move items from one container to another? I game on a laptop, so I use a Nostromo for gaming. Almost purely just replacing Keyboard keys, just so I don't have to have my hand sitting over my HDDs every day... I use a few macros in other games, just to type in commands easier on Minecraft for example, so I know the macros are there, and easy to set up. Also it being a gamepad it does not have to stay directly at my computer. What I am wondering about is if I can set it up so that while sitting out in my Orca I can go over and relax on my couch and occasionally push a button to dump the ores my corpies deposit in the corp hanger into the ore/cargo hold? I'd still be right there, the couch is only about 2m away from my desk and I'd still get up to do anything other than move ores, just want to be a little bit of relaxed while I can't really do anything else xP

If this is still considered illegal use of Macros then by all means please tell me, I'll give up on this idea. But if this is allowed.. and especially if someone can help me set this up.. Please do tell me all you can.

Thanks for reading through my rambling, to those who did.
And thanks for any Info you can give me.

IF you are unsure if you are corssing a line pettion it and get a GM to make the call for you.
I remember there are some reasons to use macros and CCP dont mind but cant remember exactly.

If you can do it with a series of key presses, you're probably fine.

If it's anything more than that, it'll be no.

As I don't know of a way to move stuff between bays with just the keyboard, I think you can't do it.

Woo! CSM XI!

Hmm. Was afraid that was the way it would be.. "Yes you can, if it was possible..." Ah well... Thanks for the responses, guys.

In-game:
Ctrl-PGDown = Next Tab
Ctrl-PGUp = Previous Tab

Use this to move between corporate / loot hangers etc.

You can use windows accessibility controls to allow you to move the mouse with the keyboards num pad :)

  • The 8, 2, 4,6 key on the num simulate up, down, left, right mouse movement respectively
  • The 5 key on the num pad simulates a left mouse click
  • The 0 key on the num pad simulate a left click and hold
  • The + key on the num pad simulate a right click

So using a combination of these keys you can move stuff around from tab to tab. Simples ;)

Im sure CCP can't/won't disallow you to use windows shortcuts, otherwise Ctrl-c / v is out the window :).

Aha! didn't think about the accessibility controls! maybe I can do this, even if I have to just set a profile with the numpad mapped instead and move the cursor manually.. Should at least work in some way ^^

Many thanks, Osku!

I have heard of people getting banned for using external programs to generate key presses even when they where sitting at the keyboard starting action there self.

I'm not positive about this, but I believe using any program to generate, repeat or broadcast sequences of key presses is against the EULA. I would petition and get a GM ok before trying it. Better safe then banned.

I am able to use the G15 keyboard macro keys and it doesn't count against the EULA. CCP has said that is an okay practace because it still means you have to be at your computer and manually press keys. If you don't have to be at your computer to do it then it is illegal.
