Hi Guys

I joined Eve online last Year around the "Dominion" Time Frame and played the game for a good 2-3 months and then stopped due to loosing interest and waited for SWTOR.

However now due to the Crucible update and a feeling to get back, I signed up for a new month and I am totally lost again, lol.

And since I have a real powerhouse of a desktop, I thought why not?

Well I know the main things still such as how to train new stuff and things but I had 2 very nice programs to equip my ships.

I need help to know which ones they were. Something like moon or something like that.

Can anyone help me with those 2-3 programs to build your ship and see what fits and what does not?

Also on the original Forums I saw a lot of negative posts about EVE now. Is it true? Is CCP doing the same mistake similar to what Sony did with NGE to SWG ??? A change that no one actually approved but it happened.

Or is it worth now even more then before to play?

It may take surely sometime to get into this game again as I was 6 months away, I got kicked from my corp due to inactivity which is understandable.
But now when I checked the Corp they lost a lot of members I had so much fan playing with :(

makes me to be honest kinda sad, as I was pumped to try this game again.

If anyone is willing and not yet weared out to help me, I would of course welcome it.

If however someone could tell me or help me as of how I found out to which Space Station I started off it would be great :)

Regards

The 3rd party programs you were using were probably EVEMON and EVE FITTING TOOL. There is another one that combines the funtionality of both called EVEHQ.

I'm sorry that you've lost touch with your previous corp and I would suggest finding another good corp to play the game wiht soon. As far as finding the tutorials you just have to open your help menu ingame and click the button labeled career agents. This will open up a second window and the tutorial agent, set destination and redo the tutorials.

Welcome back to the game and I really hope that you find a good group of players to enjoy your time with, it really is the community that makes this game so much fun.

CCP has gotten a lot of bad press last year but they mended their ways and if the last expansion is anything to go by this might be the best year for EVE yet.

Create a new alt and do the tutorials with him/her to refresh your memory.

There have been so many small changes it is not really possible to summarize them.

Check the EVE Corporations, Alliances and Organizations Center to find a new group to join or just meet people in local and take it from there.

EVE isn't very easy to get into and the feeling of being lost is very normal. Realise though that "being lost" is what makes this MMO stand apart from most others and that you can look at it in two ways: "halp I'm drowning" or "wow, so much to do and learn. COOL!", both are just a mindset. As silly as it sounds, ENJOY the fact that this game makes you feel lost as it means there's so much to explore and do. Read guides, try different things, don't set too many goals, especially not unrealistic ones or think too far ahead. Sample stuff, try things that take effort, don't just follow the same old thing you've been doing in other MMO's: grind to a set out goal.

The programs you're looking for are EVEmon and EFT, there are indeed other options but these two (to me at least) are the easier to get into and most focussed on your current needs.

Also have a look here, showing you a bunch of things to do in EVE, don't stay in your comfort zone.

Well thanks guys for your kind replies :)

When I first started Eve in 2010 it was very hard...and then lost the passion to drive me further into the game, in 2011 I started again and got into it further and right now I am just bringing up my skills with most on lvl 4 and some already on lvl5.

However if you play a lot of different other games with different mechanics and you get back into eve, I feel lost a lot more then in any other game. There are buttons everywhere and the utmost important question for me is always...where did I start and how do I equip my ship with the right parts again?
The Mission part I am sure I get the hang out of it.

I just wanna try to get myself ready for this game again, as I know it will take up a lot of my time, and roaming around may be fun and cool, especially last year I did some missions with a massive "WOW" factor.

But doing missions bored me overtime as I am always in need for a change, so I hope I won't share the same faith like I had last year :(

Though I am really looking forward to play it again :)

If missions bore you then don't do them, it really is as simple as that. You don't HAVE to do missions at all, you don't have to grind. There's many ways to make money in EVE and isk isn't all that important anyway. Find stuff that's FUN to do, preferably things which are new to you and take effort and time to figure out and make happen.

Check the link in my sig, those guides might be helpful to you.

You right I don't have to do missions, but in such an I would say "early" Stage without a real powerful ship I may not be ready much for anything else then doing mining or missions till I get a better ship then I have right now.

But I need to look for a Corp to maybe join a few funny challenges.

I am also building a mining ship itself if that is anything worth it. Can't remember though the name of it for now.

Got so much to think of as of what I wanna do, where I go wanna, what I wanna "LIKE" or dislike, I just need to get into the game a bit deeper first.

Let's see how things turn out :)

Having skimmed through all replies I will try to give my point.

First of all Welcome back to EVE online.

The 2 programs you likely used before are EVEMON and EFT (EVE Fitting Tool) like mentioned (and linked before)

The bad reviews and posts on the old forums regarding EVE and CCP were all connected to Monocle-gate.
During the launch of Incarna CCP made a couple of "mistakes". They included a new store (NEX-store) where you can buy vanity stuff for real money (or ingame stuff if you are rich). The whole walking in stations (WiS) was a big mistake as all it did was unlock a part of the station where your space-barbie could walk around solo and all it actually did was overheat a lot of GPUs of players. People where already mad about CCP testing their new Carbon engine they actually build for World of Darkness on EVE and that they didn't focus on the actualy Flying in Space (FiS). Then the final act happened with a leaked memo from CCP stating that they were thinking of including Microtransactions into the game where people with RL money could buy better stuff.

What happened was a really hot summer, people started to move to the main trade hubs and shoot the monuments outside of the station (An act that doesn't get you concordokkend) and a lot of people actually unsubbed.

CCP saw they made a mistake and actually fixed it with the Crucible expansion.

As for your old corps, they likely moved on in the time you were offline. Best suggestion, try too find a new corps to join and make new friends, while in the same time try to get into touch with some old friends and have a nice chat with them.

Also, you stated that running mission all day is boring. My point is (like Liam) then don't do it. EVE is a sandbox, EVE isn't like WoW, EVE isn't like SWTOR, EVE is just....EVE. You can do anything you want, whenever you want.

I started out as a miner. Still like to do it but even I think it gets boring quite quickly. So what I do is hop into my Drake for some missions. After those get boring, I just go out in PvP ship and shoot others. I just do whatever I like to do at any given moment. And so my advice is, just do what you want to do. There are no boundaries, and people saying: I need xx SP / I need to fly xxx Ship before I can PvP don't know how EVE works. Any character can PvP, your SP, ISK and experience only change what ship you can use in PvP. A 2 week old character can actually act as a tackler in PvP fleets while the more experienced guys provide the raw firepower to kill enemies. Size and SP doesn't matter in EVE as much as others might think.

Someone posted this a while ago and I really like what he said: Your wallet, ships and Skillpoints are just tools, they help you do whatever you want. And even tools break from time to time (ships get destroyed, wallet will go down by buying stuff, etc).

Trading doesn't require "powerful ships", or any ships at all. Simple exploration can be done in a destroyer just fine on low skills and can be VERY profitable. That's two options that don't require much SP and "force" you to learn new stuff, the more you learn and know the better you become as a player.

This this this. I just resubbed after a 2 year hiatus and am feeling overwhelmed trying to relearn the old stuff and learn the new stuff. But boy am I oddly enjoying feeling overwhelmed.

Part of what made Eve fun for me the first time was all that effort that went into getting my head around everything the game has to offer and figuring out what my Eve was. My first go-round it took me 6 months before finally settling into a groove. This time I have a better idea where I want to go with the game but I'm still not ruling anything out. (Well, not true ... I'm ruling out missioning).

So I say enjoy it and be patient. Expect to change your mind 5 times and to start 10 different skill plans. The crazy complexity and all the meta-gaming is what makes Eve so special. And yeah, really spend some time looking for a good corp because that will ultimately go a long way towards helping you settle down towards a focused plan.
