New alt, thought now i know whats going on i would roll one and take full advantage of the buddy program.

155 days (with +5's) just to max all support skills (excluding gunnery and spaceship command)

Put that with the general griefing new guys get, and the numerous recruitment scams i now understand why new people are put off greatly!!

If you actually needed to max all those skills, you'd have a better point. Just saying it takes time to max out all the relevant support skills in the game isn't exactly news to anyone.

Aw everyone wants the nooby to stay hurt, so they can use their better skills to pwn him. Such a sad sight.

The op also forgot other skills, then just support to. Gonna take me almost 2 years of training to reach a worthwhile place in this game.

It also takes a long time to reach 50 years old.
What's your point?

I don't deny it takes time to train loads of skills to a high level. The ones doing new players a disservice though are people like you who tell them they're useless untill they have trained for years, when all they need is a few basic skills and more experience as a player in EVE. If you truly believe the rubbish you're saying, you don't know how to play the game.

Worthwhile is a matter of perspective. I've played for at least 3 years now and my worthwhile place is constantly being pushed out farther.

People also need to think about how the points are distributed. yeah I may have 12 mil more in ships than a new player, but I can still only fly one ship at a time which nullifies a majority of the points. I may be able to use multiple weapon types, but I would be insane or stupid to have them all on a ship at once. I may be able to control 50 drones at one time, but my ship may only hold 5. The point is that you may see a player with 60-100 mil, but honestly how many of those skills are actually useful to him in that given moment.

Posting in a 'I can't play until my skills are all maxed' thread.

If a new player is put off because it takes half a year to UBERMAXFORTHEWIN all their support skills, then I don't feel its a great loss. They are going to quit sooner or later once they see some of the 30+ day skills.

Also, it save us having to read their "I dont know if this has been posted before but we should get more free skills \ redistribute skills \ have a month long queue \ gain extra SP for doing stuff in game....." threads in the Ideas Forums.

Jint Hikaru - Miner / Salvager / Explorer / SpaceBum In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

That's funny - after having started a new character after a couple of years break, I was surprised how easy it became compared to back then.

Remaps, no more learnings, cerebral accelerator, learning queue, easily accessible agents with top quality...

I'm skipping T1 so fast I never got to use most mods T1 versions - It's almost too easy now...

And the best part of having tons of SP in null. Some week old newbie might notice your shiny DPS and start jamming the hell out of you. Yeah blackbirds!!

There was even this one guy recently (think it was tengu) who was unlucky enough to have a few newbies jamming him, he was stuck for the fleet battle (think it was a tengufleet vs drakefleet) looking at a grey bar. He made the mistake of screaming in local, ensuring he was not primaried.

Best part? TiDi, making that grey bar longer than ever.

this is exactly what i predicted to happen tho during the last outrage of learning skill removal. people that are really new to the game have no idea how tough we had it back in the day. and so they will still complain that eve is too harsh to the new player even though it has gotten easier and easier every other year as pointed out above. its not their fault tho. they just dont know better. at this rate we will have 10mill sp starter chars in 5 years tops. if ccp doesn't htfu that is.

OP is looking for a FPS. Anytime someone complains about Eve's skill system that is really what they are asking for.
Dust (or maybe STO) is exactly what OP is looking for so I am glad that it is coming soon for his sake. In the meantime I say bring back learning skills! The tears I watched fall from all those whining about those skills were the best. I miss them.

THE GAME DUTH NOT HATH GENERIC MMO LEVELING SYSTEM WITH XP AND LEVEL CAP wwwwwhhhhaaAAAATTTT!?

Somewhere in this topic someone stated that all you need is a rifter, mwd and web to be able to have fun...and hes not wrong if you wanna join a corp and pvp a bit. You dont have to roll around space in a bajillion isk battleship to have fun in the game.

My view of new players...currently there are 5 training agents, one each for business, exploration, and industry, military and advanced military. Each agent offers 10 missions with the 10th mission being the “important” mission that raises standings. Players receive skill books, ships and some basic ship modules. I would propose the following modifications:

Upon completing all training missions, the player would receive automatic skill training to level 1 in electronics, engineering, mechanics, navigation, science and spaceship command. This encourages players to complete the training missions and gives the player the basic skills upon which further training is based. Further it saves the new player about 100k ISK as well as compensates slightly for career skill training. New players are assigned to an Non Player Corp, which they may elect: protected status for two weeks; or enter the game immediately. Protected status allows the new player time to complete training agent missions, restricts travel to Highsec, and prohibits joining player corps. The new player may opt out of protection after 7 days. Protected status does not prevent the player from participating in activities with other corps within the travel restriction.

Skills should just be done away with. They're a pointless limitation to prevent players from enjoying the full spectrum of gameplay and in combat serve as a crutch for older players who don't need a crutch.

They also serve as a way to extend the amount of time a person plays EVE and amount of money the player will give to CCP. It's the exact same in any other MMO just you can decide how long you will take levelling while EVE decides for you.
