... or did it turn to totalitarianism overnight, which one might think when reading the following incident:

Quote:

Published: 20th February 2012
A BOY of seven was accused of racism after asking a fellow pupil if he was "brown because he was from Africa.

Elliott Dearlove's mum Hayley White was summoned to the head's office after the other boy's mother complained.

Healthcare worker Hayley, 29, was read the school's zero-tolerance policy on racism and asked to sign a form saying Elliott had made a racist remark.
But she said: "I refused to sign it. It was simply curiosity from a seven-year-old boy, nothing more."
She added: "Elliott was extremely distressed by it all. He kept saying to me, 'I was just asking a question. I didn't mean it to be nasty.' "

Janet Adamson, head of Griffin Primary School in Hull, issued a statement saying: "We acted in accordance with council guidance on reporting racist incidents."

The UK doesn't have a constitution, and if it did protecting people from discrimination would be part of it. Even if in this case it was misguided, probably it came from the fact that they didn't want to risk being seen as ignoring a racial remark.

I have a friend who lived in an all white town when she was young and when a black family moved their she yelled are you made of chocolate.

The child's parents were there as well as her own. Her mother just looked at the parents and said we really are not racist.

Everything was Ok after her mother explained that people come in different Colours.

I've just read some background reports, there seems to be an extreme suppression of free speech, which usually appears in totalitarian dictatorships.

Example: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2037050/Racists-aged-THREE-Children-accused-bigotry-broccoli-head-calling.html

" 'Racists' aged THREE: Toddlers among thousands of children accused of bigotry after name-calling

Teachers are branding thousands of children racist or homophobic following playground squabbles.
More than 20,000 pupils aged 11 or younger were last year put on record for so-called hate crimes such as using the word ‘gaylord’.
Some of them are even from nursery schools where children are no older than three.
One youngster was accused of being racist for calling a boy ‘broccoli head’ and another was said to be homophobic for telling a teacher ‘this work is gay’.
Two primary school children were reported for homophobia after quarrelling over a rubber and calling each other ‘gay’ and ‘lesbian’.
Those youngsters reported for petty offences at nursery classes included four in the London borough of Tower Hamlets and three in Hertfordshire.

...
The school can keep the pupil’s name and ‘crime’ on file.

The record can be passed from primaries to secondaries or when a pupil moves between schools.
And if schools are asked for a pupil reference by a future employer or a university, the record could be used as the basis for it, meaning the pettiest of incidents has the potential to blight a child for life.
"

WTF ? Even in Germany 1933-1945 they didn't keep record of what a 3 year old said, to use this later against him.

You are mistaking incompetence and bureaucracy gone mad for "suppression of free speech".

I think a child of seven should be excluded from this type of BS.

kids remnark at anything which they see as different.

It could be height, weight, width, breadth, hair colour, lunchbox, socks, voice, cadence, social circles, hobbies, figures of speech - even the month in which someone was born (kids born towards the end of the school year are more likely to get beaten up than those at the beginning of the school year - too puny to fight back).

The nanosecond a kid pokes fun, or in this case, remarks that the colour of someones skin is dark, we hit the panic button and get lawers and social workers involved.

BUT if a kid is extorting lunch money from a fat kid - we don't do anything, except perhaps blame the parents for going large at McDonalds.

Fuckin' insanity.

Kids are curious and fearful of the entire planet; their brains are just forming their identity and structures at this point - anything they say is just indicative of their development.

Maybe instead of locking children's minds up, we should explain WHY the colour of the skin changes tone - and that there are no colours, just tones of the same thing: skin

And in answer to your topic question: the UK is an oligarchy, which goes something like this:

GOD
Queen of England
House of Lords
House of Commons
Subjects of HM

The actual documentated rule of the monarch is that God speaks to the Queen, and the Queen rules under this power as all power decends from the heavens and filters down to her subjects to support and protect her.

Its a lot more complicated than that, the Monarch for example rules by consent and has obligations to the people and limitations written in law for around 800 years. Additionally there are many things a Monarch simply has no legal right to do, only parliament can do certain things and parliament is chosen by the electorate.

In reality its more of a loop than a list.

I doubt that will happen in any of our lifetimes, it took them century's to realise that the crown prince marrying a Roman Catholic wasn't so bad. Marrying a black person into the Royal family? They are to narrow minded to consider that.

Stop reading The Sun and The Daily Fail

That should boost your IQ by at least 10 points and stop you being scared of people that are different that you.

I had a black friend in grade school who would go around poking white people because she thought it was funny that our skin got paler when you pressed on it. She'd probably get in trouble in today's schools because parents feel the need to be offended at EVERYTHING.

Kids aren't racist. At that age they barely even understand that they're different, and when they notice the differences they aren't aware of the fact that racism exists, and don't see why it's a big deal to talk about it.

If we could go a generation without acting like idiots every time the subject comes up, we'd be doing these kids a huge favor.

Wait, what? If it actually happened, and the facts are accurate - who cares who reported on it? Highly doubt the effeminate liberals running the Guardian would lift a pencil to call out such government idiocy.....probably because that's exactly the type of official coercion those Marxists want to see more of.

So, 7 year old kids - who are hardly capable of standing up for themselves - are getting their chopsticks busted by PC police? UK citizens need to have a nice big 'F U' locked and loaded for these self-important shithead bureaucrats, tell them where to stick their social engineering and diversity/sensitivity training. Roll

First off, Sun & Daily Mail = Britain's version of Fox News if Fox were a newspaper.

Second off, while there is possibly a truth behind each of those stories, I would look for just about *any* other news site covering it and get a slightly less, well, This- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hq5_joo5l5I
