Timers and Undocking

With the session timer @ 5 seconds and the invulnerability timer @ 30 seconds are my chances pretty low of getting nailed by a camper when I undock then warp out prior to the invul timer lapsing?

I understand that once you execute a command your 30 second safety is gone. Just curious if the short time you are exposed between command execution (clicking “jump” in a gate’s menu after you have undocked) and actually warping is long enough to get you in trouble.

I’m building my CovOps career and find I need to head into some low/mid sec areas to buy certain items. Just trying to keep my butt covered.

Thanks!

There is no 30 seconds of invulnerability when you undock.

There isn't 30 seconds of invulnerability anywhere.

The only thing you get, and that is when you use a gate, is a 1 minute of being cloaked. You can be brought out of this cloak is someone gets close enough to you.

Never assume you are safe anywhere.

if you undock and do nothing, you're invulnerable for 20 or 30 sec.
edit --> stopping with CTRL + space doesn't count as "doing something" so you can stop and not be outside the docking radius if your ship is suitably slow (i.e. don't use a shuttle/inty/etc)

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Ah, OK. Good to know. That will definitely take some pressure off of getting to my Insta Undocks.

Yup, just to add. There IS an invulnerability timer of 30 seconds as you undock, you can't be targeted or bumped or attacked. That timer ends either after 30 seconds or if you do something actively with your ship like running a module, aligning or initiating warp. Stopping (control+space) IS allowed.

And yes, this makes for fun station games where you get to annoy the campers.

Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

If you have insta-undock BM's, most of the time you should be able to undock, remain invulnerable, itiate warp to undock BM, and enter warp before any ship can lock you. If you have a poor undock bookmark, or if your exit trajectory is unlucky, then fast lockers can lock you in the time it takes you to align. The quick session change timers mean you should be able to redock just fine under such cases, although ships with high-alpha can sometimes blow you up before you can redock.

Session timer is 15 seconds by the way now. So you have 15 seconds to make up your mind before invulnerability runs out.

To clarify:

0 sec: Undock
undock + 15 sec: Session timer expires, so you can re-dock or jump to a cyno.
undock + 30 sec: Invulnerability timer expires

Confirmed.

This makes station games with enemies much more fun. You can undock wave at them and then redock again without them being able to even lock you.

What's the deal with people dropping cans on the station exit path? Presumably they're trying to make you collide with them and throw off your insta alignment? I assume that your invulnerability does not extend to not bumping jettisoned cans?
