[SYNE] Announcing the Third Seyllin Conference (Final updates)

Tib - as noted in the original post, for the moment we are only announcing the event and calling for interested parties to submit applications to present. It's encouraging that there are those who want to show their support for the conference by posting to the discussion thread but we're not really discussing 'rules' for attendees.

Your interest being what it is instead let's refer to previous conferences as a guideline. In the 2nd Seyllin conference, at the height of the incursion/abduction phase of the War of Resurgence, attendance was open and there was literally a block of audience members pledging loyalty to your own current faction du jour. Many others in the audience cast disparaging comments and glared furiously at this group. There also might have been some gnashing of teeth but I can't remember any knee-cappings, serious maimings or grotesquely disfiguring injuries being inflicted on the loyalists.

In addition the conference is generally broadcast live over neocom channels and may feature a holonet interface allowing capsuleers to participate remotely. Yes, you miss some of the live ambience - but it's an alternative in case you find the doors barred for whatever reason.

Failing all else you would be entitled to decry us again as 'completely insane', storm out theatrically and go about your business of ruthlessly enslaving the will of humanity to your master's megalomaniac whims and desires.

Disclaimer: For those unable to read between the lines some parts of the above have been very much tongue in cheek. What follows is all "serious business".

At this point in time I can't provide you with a list of things you'll need to 'submit'. As conveners we'll run our own security checks and reserve the right to exclude anyone we deem an unacceptable risk. The transcripts of past conferences being on the public record, you will see that this has previously been a rare event and confined to those who prove disruptive to proceedings. Should it occur we do not enter into discussion of such cases in a public forum.

At no point will we be sharing the inner workings of our corporation's or the conference's security detail with you or anyone else outside SYNE or the CEIM alliance.

I hope this suffices and again appreciate your continued interest in the conference.

Well, then, I am going to try to enter. You will find me entirely disarmed, quiet, polite, and as good an audience member as you could hope to have.

I am relatively okay with this compromise. I am quite adept at handling myself in a holographic interface, And this will allow me to continue my work elsewhere at the same time.

Due to the controversy of 'farming Nation' for profits during Incursions, I have to ask:

Would those who participated in those activities be flagged?

Another question. If I were to send an AI holographic doppleganger, would that be acceptable as well?

I will bring this up with the committee, but seeing as the holo-interface is closed system, I cant see much wrong with this. I will need you to send some details about the AI and also why you would use an AI in your place.

Again, I will take this to committee, but here is our current policy:

Though we view this activity as deplorable profiteering, we don't flag people unless they directly assist the Nation via espionage, industrial or millitary means, or pose a direct military threat to the Accord.

We intend for the conference to be open to as many as possible. That said, security will be taken seriously, rest assured.

Given that AI technology and its development is currently heavily restricted/outlawed by CONCORD and this conference falls under the jurisidiction of laws governing capsuleers I would think that any use of an AI regardless of its purpose is completely unacceptable.

Under current plans, which will remain fluid until the conference is finalised, you can open a channel from your capsuleer interface to a holoprojector on-site and interact in the exact same way you do with multiple other NEOCOM outlets. If this is insufficient, let me know in private messaging and I'll make sure your concerns are heard before details are set in stone.

Actually, I would like to talk to you about giving a talk, now that I think about it. I'll message you privately.

I will be attending with my management staff

Pending discussions with related persons regarding classification and sensitivity, a piece on the Sleepers may be a possibility with the backing of recent research and conjecture from multiple person

I would also be willing to do a piece on Artificial Intelligences if you should so desire, this would likely be in concert with some of my peers, I will ask Scherezad if she would like to participate in this.

Its in the works now, should be out soon. We're still getting interest from a few potential presenters.

After voluntarily sticking myself planetside for months at a time, this would be a good opportunity for me to get current on these matters. I shall do my best to attend if permitted, and if asked to, I am open to discussions regarding events personally experienced during the "abduction" phase of the incursions.

Thank you for your interest. Unfortunately we are preparing a finalised timetable at the moment, so it may not be possible for you to present. However each presentation will have a Questions and Answers segment, to which all are more than welcome to contribute.
