What to do after missions?

I've read over some of the quick and dirty "what you can do in eve," web guides and whatnot so on a purely informational level I do know what else there is to do. What I don't have is experience or a lot of time/isk in-game to really flesh things out for myself.

I started with a penchant for mission running and some mining, joined a small corp that did a little of both, but ended up parting ways with them as my work schedule shifted me from an EU-friendly timezone to a later US time when most of them were already asleep. Cry Anyhow, I kept running missions because it was pretty fun at the time and made me some decent isk, more or less allowing my old mining habit to slip by the wayside. I didn't much like mining either so no big deal.

Now I have done a lot of missions including some of the cosmos ones and I am looking for some new challenges. I have just a single account, which I understand to be a bit of a handicap. I also have a somewhat finicky schedule due to my job so being attentive and at the PC for more than a few hours on end is a commitment I would rather not make to other players who take the game seriously.

What kind of gameplay niches do you more experienced players feel suits a person like me?

Join a nullsec renter corp, most casual and easy isk making experience in the game. Your corp taxes your NPC bounties at a fixed rate (usually like 25%) and you can choose to PvP or just PvE. If the area gets conquered most renters just switch landlords. Pretty chill existence aside from the random ganks if you're not careful.

Well as far as PvE goes you have incursions, exploration (high/low/null sec), wormholes, or null sec ratting. Wormholes will probably be a bit more time intensive than you wish. Incursions might be a bit more hardcore than you wish. I would look into exploration or, as the above poster mentioned, finding a chill null sec corp.

Any particular buzzwords/things to look for when browsing for more relaxed null corps?

Realise that a laid back, easy entrance "renter" corp mostly means inactive, clueless, zombie members who tend to not interact much. Not always the case of course but easy corps attract lazy grind focussed people. So if you want to get ahead in EVE by learning stuff, doing new things, interact with folks and actually have a good time you're probably better off looking elsewhere.

Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

Now that you've got a funding source you might try some PVP - like Factional Warfare.

This is EVE. EVE isn't like WoW / SWTOR or any other game. EVE is just....EVE. It means you can do anything you want whenever you want.

If you don't like to run missions all day, then don't do it.
If you want to go PvP, best idea is to start looking for a corp that does both PvE and PvP. Usually PvP players use PvE to fund their PvP ships.

Also, the suggestion of a null-sec renting alliance: Keep in mind you are renters, usually means you won't get the best (or most safe) space. It also means that you can get kicked out by enemies or by the landlords if you fail payments. And renters usually run at the first sign of a large war and move to a new landlord. This works till some degree, as in time people will see you as incapable people of owning null-sec and as people who are only after the benefits of null-sec while avoiding the downsides it brings with them.

So there is a load of options open to you, just try to find out what you like to do beside missions and then try to get into a corps that does the things you like to do.

Avoid those involved in Sov warfare, and rather live in NPC space.
Why? Those involved in sov warfare woulld tend to put requirements on their members. Like joining CTAs and other fleet operation, getting kills on a killboard, and so on - which might clash badly with your available online time.

"Citizens" or "Associates" are pretty chill since they are renters. See here http://evemaps.dotlan.net/alliance/AAA_Citizens/corporations

Are the rental fees only the 25% tax or is there another fee on top of the tax?

I plan on getting into some Null ratting and exploration so this is definitely relevant to my interest. Smile

That depends on the corp, the sov holding alliance charges them a fixed fee every month, its up to them to tax their own members in whatever way they see fit to meet the monthly rental fee.

Point is that nobody forces you into doing missions if you don't like them (anymore). If you don't want do it, pick something else you want. the options are huge, you can go mine, explore, suicide gank, trade, scam, pirate, low-sec PvP, W-space stuff, null-sec, etc, etc, etc.

So people might have a hard time suggesting what else too do, as they can't look into your head and see what you do like.

Even saying PvP is too general as PvP covers a huge list of stuff you can do.
So if you would be a bit more clearly, what you do like and don't like at all, it will be much easier to give you suggestions.

How am I going to tell you what I like with any kind of specificity? I have some experience mining and running missions and that's it. I wouldn't really know how much I enjoy other things. I wanted suggestions of things that would fit my limited time-frame and offer a challenge above and beyond missions.
