Technical support needed - screen freezing in captain Quarters when doing the first tutorial.

Hi Guys.

I just started the 14 free trial of eve online on the 02/12/2012 , I now have 7 days left of the 14 day trial.

Ok so I boot up eve online on my desktop and then I log in with my username then I click on Cam Andedare.

So then the game take me to my Captain Quarters,

So then I press F12 to start the Tutorial, I then click on the part 2 of the Tutorial.

Then the Tutorial ask me to walk around the room by Pressing the W,A,S,D Keys on keyboard.

That when the screen start to freeze on me.

Here are the Specs of my PC.

OS: Windows 7 Service Pack 1

CPU: Intel core 2 duo E8400 @ 3.00 GHz

RAM: 4.00 GB

Hardrive space: 500Gb with 246Gb of Free Space

Network: ADSL

Video:ATI raidon hd 4870

Drivers: DirectX 11

Then If i press my windows key and then click on the game again I get this.

Now this is what I have tryed so far to fix the problem.

I have tryed manually clear your cache and settings,

I have set the optimization set up to performance set up.

I have Defrag my Hardrive as well.

I have also tryed Is your Character stuck? but it did not help too.

I have also try uninstall the client and re install the client but that did not work too.

I have now also try using the repair.exe but It didn't help.

I have tryed reloging in and out of the game.

I have updated my graphic driver to the most newest driver.

I will take any help I can get to fix this problem so I can start playing eve online.

Also is there any way I can change the name of my Character?

Tryed that, It make it load a little faster but still the screen freeze on me.

I had a similar problem. Turned out it was Vipre Internet Security hanging.

Adding all of the Eve exe files to the web filter within Vipre worked a treat.

Hi Enzo

how did you work out that it was your Vipre Internet Security hanging that whats causing the problem for you?

I am running Kaspersky internet Security 2010 but I don't know how to add the Eve.exe files to the web filter within Kaspersky internet Security 2010.

Can someone help me add add the Eve.exe files to the web filter in Kaspersky internet Security 2010?

Thank's for your time as I am getting no at fixing this problem.

easy solution that makes stuff go faster and better:


  • Go to ship hangar
  • Stay There

yes, you miss the "eyecandy" , but your client should not hang anymore.

Also: Ship Spinning is da bomb.

Highsec isn't "Safe".  Neither is it a playground for bullies and bottomfeeders. So stop complaining and start playing the game already.
