Falcon/Rook

Im planning on within the next month or so to train up to fly either the Falcon or Rook after ive had a little more experience in my Blackbird however im not too sure on which would be best to use for Lowsec PVP. In the alliance Tournaments ive noticed that a lot of people used the Rook which people say is best for combat where as my little Nullsec experience ive only ever encountered the Falcon.

I know the main differences are that the Falcon is cloaky and the Rook is supposedly better for DPS/Tank and since im expecting most of my combat to be at a star gate (Usually jumping into a gate camp) then the Rook would be much more suited for the initial close range rather than being able to recloak.

So I guess what im asking is what are peoples experiences and preferences in these kind of situations and which would you reccomend for roaming in a smallish gang?

If you are solo or in a real small gang (1-4 ppl) the Rook is very cool. You can fit HAM for max damage or HMs for range. Dont forget a large shield extender.

But for bigger gangs i would never flight a Rook, because it will not life long because primaried.
So take a Falcon for that. A falcon can survive big fights because you can perma-toggle cloak on and off.

Regarding lowsec recons have disadvantages (low HP) which can make you problems if a sentry gun is near.

Thanks for the reply =) Ill probably just end up buying them both anyway and use either depending on how I feel but I rekon I will be using the Rook the most often for small engagements.

If I recall correctly, using cloaks was forbidden in the alliance tournament, therefore there was no point in using Falcons.

Rooks = DPS
Falcon = Benefit of cloaking and the enemy gang not knowing they are engadging a falcon until its far too late.

Also, in the alliance tourny there was no real reason to have a cloak, it was going to get primaried and die one way or another so might as well gain that extra DPS.

How much herp could a herp derp derp if a herp derp could herp derp.

This is really it - its damn near impossible to get a fight when you fly around in a Rook.

Atleast not any fight you want. Imo falcon for general low/null dbagery, rook for some specialized situations. The cloak is to much to give up.

Falcons can jump in with a b/o gang for maximum chance of survival.

Stop training for faggotry. Don't fly a rook or a falcon unless you are just too exhausted to pound another dude in the butt. Grow a pair and get a real ship.

I think you will find I fly all kinds of ships and if you actually read my original post you would see I was planning on training for it not that im going to listen to anything you have to say regarding how I train my account unless you start feeding me plex so why dont you go back into your little cave where no one has to suffer your pointless and fail replies?

I used to love flying falcons, hated the Rook because it had such low survivability. Falcons are generally more useful because you can fit utility highs like probe launchers, cynos, and remote reps. With a rook you get only an extra 250 dps which will rarely "make the difference" in a fight.

I used to fly falcons, but being in caldari faction war there was really no point if the opposing militia sat in their home system with scouts on every gate to see falcons decloak to get an estimate of your fleets ecm. I swapped to the rook because I often times had found myself having to jump into the enemy gang with my fleet and rather than warp off and warp back I could just burn off immediatly and begin jamming/throwing out dps. The rook is a really great ship because in medium sized to larger gangs no ones gonna give a **** about the single dram or cynabal harrasing the ecm boats. Rook can force these ships to screw off.
