Armor tanker wanna-be

Hey guys

Quick question as I've got my first battleship (megathron) and am really happy with it but I have some questions about the fitting for armor tanking level 4's - At the moment I'm training Hull Upgrades 5 and Mechanics 5 (for t2 active armor hardners and t2 armor repairer, respectively).

My question is will these skills and modules make that much of a difference and if not are there any others I can use to help withstand the assault?

Atm I'm tanking for mission specific damage with t1 active hardners.

Without escalating the cost of the modules considerably not really, best bet is to go for the t2 rep and hardeners they'll give you excellent bang for your buck and do give a noticeable difference

I lied :o

Yes, but its really expensive (faction mods/guns/etc). I'd recommend backing down to a Rail Myrm if you haven't got T2 reps yet. Well, unless it works for you already in which case keep on rocking.

I found it best to get every T2 variant of the modules you use, but use Meta 4's when you have run short on PG or CPU

When did Mega become gallente noob mission boat? I always thought Domi was the king of this.

I would assume the Fitting Buff helped a lot with this, 425mm's are not near as much as a ***** to fit. Between all the little buffs to Damage, Tracking and Cap Use the Mega is definitely a lot more viable then it used to be and the Tracking Bonus / 1 TC helps a lot all well when using long guns.

That and Skill Training. T2 Sentries take quite a while whilst Meta 4 Rails do not. People tend to get T2 Small / Med Drones and leave a whole bunch of the Drone Support Skills lacking as well preferring to go Gunnery which is right up the Megathrons alley. What is more Guns are simpler, most newbies have to research the Sentry Dom or get directed to it to see its value as it is a very specialized setup to a new player and using slow Heavies in Missions as most would assume are lacking do to speed. Guns are simpler to wrap a new players head around, everyone understands Guns and as stated boy does the Mega do Guns well. Aesthetics wise the Mega is also considered by most people to be an amazing looking Ship while the Dominix has mixed opinions and this counts for a lot when coming to new players.

Finally their has always been an interest in the Mega PvE wise on the Forum, so what is the big difference. In the past everyone who types PvE Mega into the Thread Title gets 10 immediate follow up posts that say use a Sentry Dominix followed by 10 more explaining what it is and how to use it. Since the buff a 425mm Mega can be fit, can be accurate with a TC and can get some pretty good DPS so the get another ship statement has been pretty much replaced with Megathron Fitting Advice.

Since the Sentry Dominix only really gets superior after T2 Sentries and before that 425mm Meta 4's > T1 Sentries you can probably expect a lot more Megathron centric Advice when it comes to Gal PvE.

Edit: Missed This

See, Aesthetics.

I like the Dominix though, it looks ancient just like in the description.

Little fit suggestion to consider. You definitely want a T2 Tank, I consider it a training priority.

You thought wrong, unless you're running bot programs or the guy afk slow boating to next gate whilst playing other games/youpørn whatever. Megathron properly fitted with maxx skills and after recent ammo changes is a mission BS/BC killer, your Domi drones will never get to them that fast and Mega can still take our frigs whilst raping bigger targets.

EDIT: because it's a very important step with Mega, you rather train your tank/engineering skills asap and guns later. Meta 4's rails with faction ammo does a decent dps, you should also have decent drone skills and use hobgobs II's and hammers II's.

I did the same path at my beginning: train straight for that nasty looking Megathron, well bad news my friend, Megathron requires a very high pack of lvl5 skills to be used at his max potential. This means over a year full engineering/electronics/drones/navigation/gunnery skills. You rather be patient or use afk Dominix.

You can get very impressive damage with a Sentry Domi at the cost of sitting still until you kill everything.

Drop a hardener for a third magstab. LOng as the tanks t2 that should work fine. Also drop the locus for a aux pump maybe?
