One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Yeah, that list looks correct. We (goons) finished our interdiction, so it should be safe to AFK mine blue ice 23/7 again. Oxygen isotopes are 2.5x the price of other isotopes so I'm surprised more ice miners haven't switched back yet.

I really do hope that this is over. I'll be able to ice mine and iron at the same time! While Goons have been terrorising the region I've had nothing to do while ironing!!! Big smileLol

BTW that wasn't a whine!!

Is it really over? I was stupid and lost a few good ships before I figured out what was going on.

so if it is really over what ice will be the next target??

Goons proved that they could drastically effect the market with there campaign.

I wonder if the plan is to move onto another isotope now?

If they kept it up cycling between ice types they could keep the market value of all isotopes up.

Oxytopes are a special case making it much easier to disrupt the flow. The reasons for this have been spelled out elsewhere.

Regardless of whether the interdiction is over or not; mining ice has such an incredibly low profit margin that anyone who does it is a mental infant.

You asked me once, what was in Room 101. I told you that you knew the answer already. Everyone knows it. The thing that is in Room 101 is the worst thing in the world.

I suppose if you did a bunch of multiboxing, your income after the first ~40hrs (for your Plexes) would be pretty decent. 10-11 Macks with an Orca, ~11m isk/hr on each (110-120m isk/hr total) is a decent income for a low effort multibox setup.

For slightly more effort you could multibox missions and make ten times that much.

After the second (maybe third) account in the same mission, the decrease in completion time becomes negligible, and keeping track of more than 2 missions at once would probably make my head explode.

Ice mining also means you can use ISBoxer (a mouse broadcasting program whitelisted by CCP after dowel guy made his rediculous multiboxing setup), and control any number of ice miners with the same effort as one.

well, I'm not leaking secret info or trying to convince people of something not public knowledge. Simply check our killboard:
https://killboard.goonfleet.com/shipgroup/Exhumer
and it's quite obvious exactly when we quit the interdiction and moved on to invading Branch instead.

As a general rule I usually say nothing is boring as there will be someone somewhere who finds any activity interesting. But I do have to say that ice mining is indeed a bit boring.

Ice miners everywhere would be wise to take anything members of Goonswarm say with a tablespoon of salt. Their reputation and actions precede them. But whenever I read one of their posts it always makes me smile or laugh out loud. So I hope they continue to post in the Science & Industry forum.

Hulkageddon V runs from February 1st to the 29th inclusive so all you ice miners had better get busy. Blink

That is a long hulkagedon this year. :-(

As for ice mining, between pi and ice mining, I don't have to buy fuel for my pos. Additionally, it is far easier semi afk ice mining while I play skyrim. plus, I can ice mine on my indy alt, leaving my main free to be in corps that are more pvp oriented and war decced often.

So yes, ice mining might not be the most profitable, but given my constraints, it works very well for my needs and many others are in a similar boat.
