There MUST BE A DEFINITIVE log of the ISK changing hands, correct? With isk changing hands for nothing these accounts are left high and dry if they overextended themselves. While the axiom don't fly what you can't afford to lose holds true should the transitive property take effect in the character bazzar or the recruiting channel: don't spend ISK you can't afford not to have for x amount of days while CCP investigates in totality? I'm guessing the persons thought they could play immediately off the back to earn back some chunk of what they just spent... lesson learned the hard way.

I was considering purchasing a character myself glad I've been forewarned in the forums and feel sorry for those that don't read these stories here...

Wait so someone gets scammed on the char bazaar and they have to wait while GM's f*ck around seeing if they are not just a scammer but a hacker and a RMTer? Sorry but that makes no ******* sense, it matters not to the guy who got scammed whether hes a hacker as well or not.

I do have to say i do think the GMs have no clue how this effects the player. Its a massive massive issue and inconvienience for the person being scammed. One has no character one has no isk, both pretty f*cked. Meanwhile its just sit and wait and wait and wait. CCP seriously need to step up their customer service, its pretty damn poor. But we say this for years and nothing changes, so you shouldnt expect it now. I really dont understand why CCP just have a handful of people doing this stuff, its basically that customer support is not a priority.

or maybe do it like you buy timecodes ? maybe like have an ingame wallet function where you can send isk to an account wallet from which you can buy a character or a timecode ?????

Nope. Character sale scam = ban. I'm pretty sure.

The ignorance in this thread about why it takes the GM "a while" is enormous.

Nobody knows really what it is, hence everybody knows better what they should do.

The life of the GM department and of a lot of customers could be easier if additional means for account security were put into place. For example a digipass key that would be optional for most players, with the exception of those trading character.

In practice, no additonal account security, no character transfers.

Yes, and that is no one's fault but your own for not using a 3rd party to help you complete the transaction. Be happy that you will get your isk back eventually if it does turn out to be a scam. In the meantime you can go back to doing all the stuff that got you the isk in the first place. Oh, wait, you just bought the isk with your credit card, didn't you. Well, then wait.

Well if CCP do have IP logging enabled (i assume they do as it is a great security feature), then it would be pretty straight forward to see if the account has been hacked or not.

But yeah, going through all the books and records of stuff may take a lot longer

Unlikely (although possible) yet wouldn't make much of a difference. CCP can see that the "hacked" account was logged in by an ip outside the original owner's region unless the "hacker" is a close friend or relative that lives nearby or even used the original owner's machine. It's factors like this that make the investigation take time and GMs/CCP is fully right for not jumping to conclusions or innocents could get burned.
